“Send someone else out immediately” is not as simple as it sounds. They’ll have to print documents from scratch on a beyond last minute basis. That 2nd notary should be paid double the rate for that.
Stuff like that can happen to any of us. I think it’s totally unfair that they would blackball you for one incident like that. It’s just another example of title companies and signing services not caring at all about the signing agents. It should come as no shock to anyone though, that we’re treated in such a way.
No unfortunately. Apparently they stop using me because I asked about several of my payments at that time. They were having computer issues and I was unaware of it. I sent an email to them asking about it, and I never received another signing from them again. ![]()
Maybe give them a call, see where the disconnect can be. Sometimes if it’s a SILK Closing with them, it’s typically a NET 60 (which is a newer thing).
Two weeks ago, I was in a similar situation. I took a job that was on my way home on a full day of signing, at 530pm. It was a refi with scan backs. The signer wouldn’t answer the phone or text messages. I informed title and the mortgage company of her lack of communication. They gave me her email, but she didn’t respond to that either. The job right before was with an elderly couple who I’d notarized for them before so I scheduled an hour between them and this last job. Sadly, the husband became ill and an ambulance had to be called. After notifying title and the mortgage company of the situation, I called and texted my 530pm signer and the title company to inform them of the situation and to tell them I’d be about 15 minutes late. While I was driving to the last appointment, title calls asking why I never showed. I remind them I called them and the signer to inform I’d be 15 minutes late. He said the signer claims I never contacted her and that I told her I would be there at 330pm! Title said he thought the appointment was at 530but the signer seemed so upset he wasn’t sure. I told him the order sheet has 530, why would I change the time and not inform them?? When I arrived, the signer started telling me how easy of job being a notary public is and that is she had some free time shed be a notary because it was for slow and mindless people. She then said it’s really a useless job. She said she never gives a favorable review because something always goes wrong. She said she lied about the appointment time because she just knew I’d be late. When the signing was done and id gone through to make sure everything was signed and correct, all while she’s complaining about how long it was taking and I must be incompetent, I packed up and left without giving her my card or a backward glance. When she neglected to sign where and how she was supposed to, I had to point it out. She said it didn’t matter because she’s signed these documents before but the first notary was stupid and so this appointment was to ‘compare’ what the first notary sent and what I’ll send. She then said she hates working with black women because we’re stupid and slow and fall for just a little kindness because we’re all damaged. I wanted to punch this chick in the mouth.
I called title from my car and told them everything she did and said. I then forwarded the recording of the appointment just to ensure there was a clear picture of what happened. If I hadn’t let title and mortgage know that I’d be late, this psycho would have ruined my good name with this company. I started recording because she gave me bad vibes from the second I walked through the door.
Hope that helps.

She nailed it pretty well.
Even a 75-year-old bone marrow cancer survivor, with chemo brain, long covid, clot shot poisoned, and physically damaged old man like myself can do this.
Yes, I agree! My favorite comeback to those mean comments is, “you don’t even need to know how to spell notary public to be one” is a common belief and that’s why signing service “babysitters” are necessary. Most of us just sit by the phone and wait to be chosen like hookers on hollywood blvd. A sad reality.
@johnsonps306 I’m not sure. They never said anything to me about it. I have never responded to it.
@steves11 I have to agree with you. I think it goes both ways. There are bad notaries, but for those who work hard does their best shouldn’t get punished especially for when some of the clients think they are entitled.
@MMDnotaryservice That is not a good thing. I have not had any issues with them about payments. It has been pretty good. So, no complaints about the payment part of it.
@moneydiva1 OMG that is so not cool. Seriously some of these people think they are better than us. If she thinks it is so easy, then maybe she should switch with us and see how easy it is. The disrespect that notaries can get. I am so sorry that you had to go through that.
“Most of us just sit by the phone and wait to be chosen like hookers on hollywood blvd. A sad reality.”
That is a sad comparison, but unfortunately, an accurate one.
