Uptown Escrow Services refusing to pay

I did a signing which was about 30 pages and the signer had some death certificates which I was not notified about and I texted and called the contact, but they did not respond, so I didn’t take them since the signer said he wasn’t sure if they needed them. I completed the signing after about an hour and this was for 30 pages, I can get through 150 pages in less than 40 minutes usually. He moved very slowly and went to find his bank information etc… Despite this, I never rushed him, yet he told the company that I was very unprofessional and rushed him. The title company (Uptown Escrow Services) then said they would not pay me and they had to send another notary. I asked them to send me the documents that I had gotten signed because if they weren’t going to pay me, then they shouldn’t be using my documents which I paid to print and bring to the guy as well as my time. The woman (Crystal Upton) finally responded from the title company and said I was harassing her and she would report me if I continued. I told her to go for it and I would love to give my side. Needless to say, she never reported me and refused to pay, she also claimed her assistant was in charge of this, not her. My question: what can I do to file a complaint and hopefully get paid?

I know you’re miffed, but, going forward, if signer ‘doesn’t know’ BUT mentioned it–TAKE IT!!! Add a note to the pkg. that if they don’t need whatever, to send it back to signer.

FWIW, they often forget to tell you to pick stuff up…and the signer might forget, too. I once had that happen and was halfway back home on a good distance signing, when the B called me to tell me he’d forgotten that they wanted ‘something’ and would I please come back & get it.

Said I’d have to get hiring party’s approval first as they may just want him to mail it–which he did NOT want to do. Hiring party hadn’t told me ‘something’ was to be picked up either. Called hiring party, explained what had happened and, of course, they wanted me to go back. Sure will—FOR ADD’L FEE. They gladly agreed.

And, sorry, just because you printed them, they still belong to hiring party. My point is pick your fights very carefully. I hope you had the opportunity to let them know that the 30 pages took an HOUR–which they ought to realize was not a rush.
