RON, short for Remote Online Notarization, is the electronic notarization of a document.
With RON, you do not meet with signers face-to-face. Instead, you meet online via video to complete the signing virtually. All signatures and stamps affixed to the document(s) are digital. No pen and paper!
Becoming a RON-approved notary and offering RON services is optional. Since RON is so new, most signings are still completed in-person.
RON is not approved in every state. Check with your Department of State/Secretary of State to determine whether RON is approved in your state and what requirements exist to become a RON notary.
