It would be helpful to all notaries to know which notary company this was!

The assignment came through Pac Signing, address of Beaverton, OR. The title company was First American Title Company. Client stated that her mortgage company was Rocket (which is also mine). I’m really torn about this situation. I can’t say for sure that the client wasn’t out there somewhere and just didn’t have a clue what was going on. Did someone say that or was that in her own head? I jumped on Pac about this. Of course, their response was they were reporting it to the Title Company. I’m working, my home is secure…I just stepped way back from this situation.

By any chance was that a Cloud Signi gs?

When the people on the mortgage move, die, or go to a nursing home or assisted living, the mortgage becomes due. A VA mortgage is the same. Most loans of any sort are no longer assumable except by qualification. Reverse mortgage being the exception with no assumability. The house must be sold (assuming there is equity) or refinanced. Heirs can inherit equity, but must pay off the existing mortgage, either by refinance or cash. I actually had a client i sent to a mortgage broker. Im a real estate broker of many years. He was 65 when his dad died with a reverse mortgage on his house. The son wanted to move in and actually did his own reverse mortgage on the house. But, yes, anyone not on the mortgage has no rights to claim the house.

Actually, I believe they have their own platform. Bad memory I’ve erased. If I get a chance I will look it up.

The girl slandered you over the phone by accusing you of scamming. Please report this to the LO. Who is the title company? Is it the title company or the Signing Company. I can see that a scam could happen. Holy moly!! Tell us so we can stay away.

I had so many issues with reverse mortgage loan applications, i will no longer do them. I left 2 unfinished. One was bordering on 2 hours with thec applicant on the phone with her daughter most of the time. I had originally talked to the daughter and she said her mother had worked at a bank for years and was capabable. Well, she had no documents ready as she would shred everything. She had no electronics so did not have a list of what was needed. I called the lender to let him know i could not finish as i had not collected any documents. Daughter yellled at me and lender yelled at me. People who do not use any technology seem to think i am there as a loan officer. I accepted one and instructions came with no email. Red flag. Nope. Ive been a real estate broker for 41 years and know reverses back and forward and am generally in favor of them, but no more applications unless they are provided copies before i show up.

:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:  I love it! Of course Southern California…

I never was quite sure who she talked to, but I almost believe that Rocket Mortgage told her she was being scammed. I sincerely believe she thought I was a part of it as I was scheduled to do her closing. She just repeated what she heard from them. In all honesty I’m glad that I told her to contact Rocket and if they did tell her that she was being scammed I’m glad that she got defensive. Yes, it stung for a quick minute but no real harm done and I’m glad I had a limited part in whatever was going on. It’s getting to be a select few companies that I will deal with. I’ve come to realize that I’ve done several closings on property for her ex and his family so reputation is not a great concern.
