Accused of shipping blank documents after signing

Mortgage Connect after 12 days accuse me of shipping them blank documents after they were signed!

I am highly upset and they claim documents need to be sent back so urgently the next day why did they take them 12 days to say something? I told him that they need to definitively prove to me that I made such an error.!

Once I print a job if I have to make a second copy, which I typically do in case there is an error I put the blank copy in a white envelope for the borrowers

The copy that is to be signed and sent, I label it with sign here, stickers, or plain stickers for something that they need to pay attention to or a question they need to answer or need to initial. I color label one color for the female and one color for the male in the party.

When I am done, I go home go back through the documents and take all the labels off the pages and then I scan to you.

Then once I receive, it’s OK to mail. I take it to the shipper.

I had one assignment on that day, so I wasn’t confused with anything else and there wasn’t anything else in my folders.

I have separate color-coded folders that are clear with zippers on them for each client.

There is no way I would’ve sent a package of blank documents.

And if I had, I would’ve noticed it when I got home because I would’ve still had signed documents in my possession and I would’ve returned to the shipper to pick them up the wrong package and re-ship.

There is one thing in this world I do not do as I don’t play when it comes to work and I don’t lie, cheat, steal, or cut corners.

Weird. Never had that happen. But I never say never because sometimes stuff happens. That’s weird though. We can’t take it personally. It’s not a personal attack it’s someone missing a step somewhere. Calling that someone you is the easiest fix for them. I also have data drives. While I can scan direct to my computer I scan to a thumb drive. I rotate my thumb drives clearing the drive every couple of weeks. I bought six thumb drives pretty cheap on Amazon. I just rotate them so if this ever happened I’d have the scan on a thumb drive - for two weeks anyway. I delete files from my computer same day but those thumb drives have come in handy a few times.

Thank you for taking the time to send your feedback. I am one to own up when I make a mistake, but this was egregious. It’s shameful that Notaries are placed at fault for the mishaps of others. As a Realtor, I am very conscious of what I do because it’s my name, my brand on the line.

Hi Notarynohio, you might want to research Cloud Signing in the archives. Cloud Signings has a reputation for non-payment, and there is a post here on Notary Cafe stating that Cloud Signing changed its name to Mortgage Connect. The name may have changed, but its behavior may not have changed.
It’s easy enough to verify with the title company whether they received signed copies on time or not. If you do contact the title company, do not accuse the signing agency of anything to the title company, because 9 out of 10 they will back the company they know and have worked with rather than a person they do not know. In my 10 years of experience working as a Mobile Notary Signing Agent the longest I have ever heard back from a signing agency or title company that there was a mistake made, like a missing initial or signature, was 1 day, even if title is not funding the next day they know if they received their signed documents back.
Good luck and keep Notary Café posted if Cloud Signing’s name changed, but not their non-payment ways.

Good morning thank you for responding. Although your response has me a little confused I didn’t accuse the signing company in error. The documents went back to the signing company, and it was the signing company who said they received an envelope of blank documents, which is impossible unless I am blind and can’t see documents that have been signed versus documents that are blank. Yes I have read the post about cloud signings. Thank you for your feedback.

Sorry, I was thinking they said you didn’t ship them the signed documents.

Hi, no they said that I shipped them documents but they were blank so I don’t have them the borrowers do not have them… what gives?!

After I sign, I go home and take off all of the stickies sign here sign here scan the documents put them in the envelope and then ship them up even if I had made that mistake. My point is when I got back home, I would’ve saw signed documents or something with that client name in my possession no such thing happened.

I have been a realtor since 2005. I am almost 60 years old. Never have I made such an egregious mistake and I promise you that did not happen where those documents are at. I have no idea.

do you know what’s possible the company you shipped the documents to might’ve scanned them upside down so they looked blank when the lender got them that’s one possibility

She didn’t say the scanned docs were blank - the docs that were shipped that they received were blank.

What I don’t understand is - if you had to scan the docs back before shipping, why didn’t THEY catch it then, that they were unsigned.

Just for giggles, did you check with the signers and ask them to look at the package you left them?

Shame on them. You did your job. They should just
take the fault, pay you and hire another notary to redo it.

Hello, thank you so much for your support. Actually, that is what they ended up doing because management held a meeting in none of them could even fathom how would happen and they told me that they did not believe that I would do anything like that so that gave me some comfort that at least they trusted me enough to know that that is not how I operate. You know being a Notary or anything we do in life our name is our brand and we have to protect it and I work hard at trying to protect my brain and I know other notaries do also.

@Notarynohio Sagacious to do so, BUT greatly Appreciate your acknowledgement that others do so as well!

Mortgage Connect has bad review online. They hired me a year ago to do a refi for a grandson who was helping his grandma to refi the house through Ally bank. MC hired me through Snap Docs. long story short it took them almost 6 months to pay me $70 because they had the wrong address even though all of my information is up to date on that platform NEVER again Will I take a signing from them. They are waste of time and bad for my mental health!

@susana :collision: WoW! :collision: 6 MONTHS!

Thank You :sparkling_heart: for sharing your direct experience.

.

@susana Yes . . . PLUS they’re notorious for abysmally Low Fees.

The online invoicing process has to be followed. If you invoice sooner than 3 days after the signing it goes into limbo land. I have no problem getting paid.

The bigger problem is someone in this region taking low fees. My counteroffers were often accepted. Now someone is accepting the low fees. Another reason I don’t discuss fees.

They’d have to pay another notary to get the documents resigned. Of course, they’re going to try to get you, as the original notary that they are blaming for the mishap, to do it for free.

This is why I always scan my documents before shipping, this way I can look and make sure what I sent, even if they say no scans required.

That works until you get just too darned busy.

@steves11 Correct! :white_check_mark:

For whatever it’s worth. I keep shipping materials in my office. As soon as i double check everything and scan it (i can see the pages on my computer as they scan), right then i package up the documents ready with label, etc. for delivery to FedEx or UPS. No mix up that way.
Do you have the scan?
