One of the SS’s I’ve done work for has started using AI for scheduling. The first question AI asks is if I’m available at such and such time. If I answer “yes” the AI says the confirmation will be sent to my email. No room at all to negotiate my fee. If I respond “no” to the date and time, the call is ended. Very frustrating!
@tracy1 Frustrating Indeed!
I also wrote about my direct experience in this regard back on August 11, 2025 the ‘caller’ had the voice of one of the ‘regular’ schedulers, but she sounded quite “mechanical.”
At that point in time I posed the following query:
“Has anyone else encountered this scheduling ‘technique’ yet?“

Interesting AI is every where. Still don’t trust it. Recently uploaded Windows 11 and updated my Adobe Pro. Unchecked all boxes to add AI use. Wasn’t easy because hidden in several screens. Prefer using my own brain (even though it is not perfect) and not a mechanical option. My son has worked 20 years for Microsoft and Amazon. Techs he worked with are reporting issues with incorporating AI into their systems. He was laid off from Amazon last week. Now working for vendor for Boeing ~ makes more money and less headaches of fitting square peg into a round hole. Technology improvements are great if they work.
Are you saying that they don’t even tell you the ‘offered’ fee, or even signing type, location, scan required??? If that’s true, I think I’d say ‘yes’ every time….and then, when the order popped in, ‘assume’ they met my required fee of $XXX and to Confirm this in writing. They want to play AI games….show ‘em what a human can do!
Just how the signing services like it!
You’re fighting a losing battle. Some newbie will take it at whatever fee is offered, no matter how low.
That’s exactly what I’m saying. I do, however, like your idea. I think next call I’ll say yes and go from there! AI is programed by humans, after all!
AI is programmed by other AI, don’t be deceived.
One way communication is expected all over around.
My son is a coder. He coded AI that fixes AI coding errors without involving a human.
He talks about his job and I put my fingers in my ears and sing.people don’t know half of it.
That’s not very comforting to know.
There is an AI zero day clock now. And that is really uncomfortable.
So, I got another call from a robot, I wonder if they get offended by being called “robot” instead of “artificial intelligence?” I digress. Anyway, I replied “yes” to the date and time. This time, it asked me what my fee was. I replied and the response was that it was not able to authorize that high of a fee and if I’d like to lower it. I said no. It told me that there were other notaries in the queue and asked again if I was sure that was the lowest bid I could make. I really wanted to go into a tirade about how compromised fees cut into my expenses and thus my profits and that I would much rather spend my money on groceries for my family than settling for a lower fee that cuts into my costs. I felt the robot or AI or whatever, would have been indifferent to my views so I disconnected the call.
Happy Friday y’all!
You get fake person calls? Haven’t had that yet.
Good grief…now we have to deal with robots who will simply keep repeating ‘can’t authorize that’ and ‘will you go lower?” OK, so next time start at $100 more than you want and decrease by $5 each time you’re asked…. I’m so curious as to how this new ‘talk to a robot’ game is played. How about ‘I’ll call your $65 and raise you by $100’… This is really disgusting. What co. is doing this?
Adding… or ask what fee it’s willing to pay…and then say ‘yes…that takes care of printing/scanning, But I’ll need another (same figure) for car expenses & another (same figure) for the table time. See if it turns you over to a human because it’s over its capability. Crazy, crazy, crazy…
OR “I’ll need the (type of loan) (page count) (scans required) (exact address) prior to quoting. If you can’t provide that, transfer me to a human now.” It’ll either end the call quickly or get a human.
I have dealt with this as well. I will not drive 40 miles 1 way for $40.00.
