Are Signings Slowing Down?

Is it me, or are loan doc signing requests slowing down? I used to do 30 signings a month, part time. It increased to 40 a month back in late 2020 and early 2021. These past few months I’ve only had 20. October 2021, I only have 3 so far. I know rates are going up, but this is getting ridiculous. Are you experiencing the same slow down? I’m in California, Los Angeles area.

I guess it depends on the area. I live in Southern Alabama and I’m consistently averaging 45 signings a month, I’m at 35 for the month of October so far. Hope it gets better for you.

Yes, it is slowing down. I called one title company today and said is it slow or is it just me? She said yes, but you are still getting orders! Didn’t know she can review my account!! She said you got 32 last week and gave back 4! :joy: Even though it’s slow I think I can still get between 100 to 120 a month min. :crossed_fingers:t3: Was doing between 160-170 a month but that was brutal!

Way to go!!! WOW. My max is 55 that’s NSA work. If you include GNW, then my max is 79. I’m old and can’t go like I use too lol

Offers are really slow this week, all around. I hope it isn’t a trend.

Thank you for your responses. Doing this part time is hard too , with a full time job and kid’s school to deal with (school open houses, Debate tournaments, etc.). But bravo to all that do this full time. I’ve done 4 signings in one night, after an 8 hour day at work, and it get’s brutal. I can handle two a night, and I’m happy. Funny thing, after sending this message yesterday, I got two appointments within half an hour of sending this message out! And two more today. Maybe it was just the beginning of the month thing. I get many of my appointments from mid month to the end. I know I’ll be hurting though when the check amounts start getting lower. I don’t have any escrow or title companies to go to, only signing companies through Snapdocs, which we all know pay way less.

I’m also doing this part time and it seems slow for me. Mostly because I get notified about last minute signings which don’t work for me.

Yes. It’s slower this week :frowning: makes me sad haha

My mom does notaries in a different state then me and said the same thing and I have noticed a slow down lately and my other notary friend in the same area as me mentioned that too!! So maybe we’re just used to working too much lol

It’s not just slowing down, but there’s been a sudden increase in NSAs in my neck of the woods, at least 20-30 newbies. This has diluted the number of signings but also driven fess down.

I’m also seeing a new crop of signing services set up by recently minted notaries who really have no experience in the business. Too many have drank the 6-figure cool aide, but have now fallen gullible that starting a signing service is the next get rich quick scheme.

Factor in the increase in foreclosures we may be in for a stormy future.

“Foreclosure starts jumped 32% in the third quarter of this year from the second quarter and were 67% higher than the third quarter of 2020.” -Source CNBC October 14th, 2021

Wow I started off with the notary part time as well in San Diego, CA and I’m averaging 10 a month. Which SS do you recommend.

I’m struggling.

It’s slow for me here in Las Vegas but my cousin is doing signings in San Diego since April this year. She is doing 3/4 a day part-time (another job)!. She is also turning down some requests too! Her daughter-in-law started 2 months ago in Temecula and had 2 signings her 1st week and been 4-5/weekly since. They are kicking butt down there. My cousin aggressively marketed herself. Sent thank you notes. Asked to be preferred after working with each signing agency, etc. I, on the other hand, (& my husband) have only received 3-4 in the last 3-4 months and couldn’t do them. I had a request to do a signing 12 miles away in 15 minutes from the request, etc. We are flooded with signing agents here (everywhere) but SD seems to still be busy.

That’s the hard part for me. I usually work alot and I see a bit of a slow down. My mind is like “Oh no!” but my body is like “Thank God, please take a break, you are exhausted”

It’s slow in western South Dakota too. I had 72 gnw and lsa appts in August, 60 gnw and lsa appts last month (which is where I average), but only 11 so far this month. I have ONE signing scheduled for this week. I hope its’ temporary with people taking a pause due to life transitioning back into school days.

All of my direct clients are slowing down. I’m in Seattle area.

Well, it looks like it was not a temporary pause in my area. I only had 32 signings this month. I usually do that many (or more) within the first 2 weeks. I also do inspections with several companies. Those have slowed way down too. I’m forced to look for at least a part time job. I was also contacted yesterday morning about a full time position with a local dentist as a patient coordinator/billing specialist. I’m actually considering it… It hurts my heart to be in this position. I have been beyond proud of myself for running this company full time for over a year. While I know it’s not because of my doing, it still feels like I failed.

And I’d say 32 signings in a month is amazing. I’d be thrilled to have that much work. I haven’t given up yet, but of course I’m almost at retirement age anyway.
