Bad Forms Trending For AI Rejecting Notary Certificates

I’ve been a notary public since 2009. I’ve noticed in 2025 many poorly crafted forms in the system. Today I did one that was going to be submitted by scan for AI processing that expects the form to be done its way regardless of the laws of California.

My customer had asked for my Jurat ink stamp and notary impression hoping it might work. The previous certificate attached method from another notary was rejected by the AI at Facebook.

This is the way AI is a threat to human notaries by rejecting what we do following state laws. I noted the new 2024 U.S. Federal forms for child U.S. passport applications (attached) are ignoring California law but this time added something notaries can’t lawfully perform of the necessary steps to approve the application.

This is just another example of how human notaries can be useless thanks to these type of AI programmed methods. I sent the Federal form to the SOS about the problem. The consulate can technically reject the application based on failure to place the notary’s signature on the Federal form along with the attached Jurat certificate. These methods are gradually making human notaries irrelevant and thus ripe for a gradual AI take over in my opinion.

A link to an official United States Department of State PDF for the form in question is

If you read the top box on page 1, third line, it says

A separate notarized written statement with all details in this form may be submitted in lieu of this form.

The most common place to submit one of these forms would be a post office. If the postal employee who handles passport applications refuses to accept the letter, you can file an online complaint against the employee at

Sharing my recent passport renewal photo application was rejected by AI. Letter stated AI rejected because similar to old photo on this web site and does not appear my features have changed and required another photo. Sent angry photo and was accepted, Not a fan of AI.

AI is only as good as the coder’s math. I don’t see an AI takeover coming when AI is not consistently good on anything. I take pictures for a company and I’ll get messages “AI rejects this photo” blah blah blah and I reply “AI is incorrect photo is as requested have a human look at it”. And my assignments get approved.

If the industry starts accepting AI instead of a human, then the industry wants fraud to go unchecked. IMO.

You are correct we don’t need machines telling us what to do.

AI isn’t even a machine. It’s math. That’s all.

I understand that but it’s still run on computers.

There was a TV show about how AI was going to destroy the world so they set off a massive EMP that killed all technology and the opening scene were the main characters walking through Fenway Park that was overgrown. Can’t remember what that show was called.

But - never say never. My son is one of those mathematicians. It’s scary. I have to remind him not to tell me sh** like zero day X is a real thing for the destruction of humanity because of AI. That’s why they are trying to program AI to have empathy for humans. Terminator much?

AI and robots need to improve before being placed into active use. Having consumers complain and then fix problems is tech on steroids being stupid. Hurt my leg in NC while on vacation and may terminate my notary business. Seatac Airport provided robot wheel chair and it ran me into a wall. My family was really ticked off and gave me another injury. Robots seemed to work better on old “Jetson’s Series”.

Hope you get well soon.

Thank you. Leg pretty messed up and will be retiring from notary business.

Thank you. 76 and bones don’t heal as quick when I was younger.

Thank you all for kind words. Rest of my body is ok but this leg injury will require me to stop notary signings. Brain cells still work but will not be able to use stairs.

Wow, I’m sorry to hear about your injury! I live in Bonney Lake, too, and my Mom just used a wheelchair at Seatac Airport, but thankfully they had a human driver.
