BiBerk E&O for loan signings?

If you use BiBerk for E&O, what does your policy look like? Mine is like 8 pages long, and quite vague. It does not share exactly what it covers or does not cover. It just says I work in the loan signing industry…

Also would you want to have the E&O in your name personally to cover you as the notary public performing notarizations with your name or the LLC?

Is that a straight E&O, or a signing agent E&O or an umbrella policy?

unfortunately, it’s quite vague and doesn’t state clearly, just sayings Professional Liability Insurance also known as Errors and Omissions insurance. It states my industry as loan signing, that’s it. I’m particularly looking for E&O insurance that covers both general notary work and loan signing work.

“Straight from the horse’s mouth”: https://www.biberk.com/get-a-quote/professional-liability-insurance?a=Rain-Discovery-R-M4U&matchtype=b&msclkid=008ae3072b7e1dc8b113849b2bfd0c2b&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=BingPMAX_WC_BOF&utm_term=www.biberk.com&utm_content=Bing%20PMAX%20WC%20Asset%20Group

Be sure to scroll down and read.

In the declarations page there should be an line item stating “Schedule of Insured Services:
Notary Services”. You may need to discuss your policy with your P&C agent.

Take a closer look. Your E&O policy should clearly spell out what you are covered for. (It covers errors and omissions, does not cover criminal acts, basically.) If it says “Notary Public” it is a notary public policy for general notary work. If it says “Signing Agent” it is a signing agent policy for real estate loan signings.

from BiBerk’s website: “If a client believes you made a mistake or oversight, they could claim that you didn’t meet those standards and sue your company for financial damages. Errors and omissions insurance protects you in the event that a client accuses your business of making a mistake (an error) or failing to do something (an omission), even if that claim proves to be groundless.”

Scroll down the page and it goes into detail what E&O covers. A policy covers an individual.

Ah thank you, so I should get it in my name as an individual, correct? Currently, they have my LLC listed in the quote. Also do you know if the one E&O policy can cover both loan signing and general notary work? Mine only says I work in the loan signing industry, and when I asked if that covers work as a Notary Public as well, the agent said, it’s assumed. I just have my doubts because the agent I spoke to also shared some other misinformation, so now I’m not sure who to go to for accurate information.

Ask your insurance provider to make sure. Tell them what you are doing and make sure you have adequate coverage for general notary work and loan signing if you are doing both.

(My business is an LLC but my policy is in my name.)
