This is concerning the true\false section
Do you guys read the questions aloud to the signer generally?
I know it’s not our responsibility
I had one signer who didn’t want to read through it and just answered false on all of them.

I do not read anything aloud. I advise signers to review what they are signing when it’s notarized.
How they answer something isn’t my issue. There are at least two documents in most packages that include statements regarding mortgage fraud being a felony and investigated by the FBI.
I usually point out they are signing they understand this when they sign the HUD statement. But I never question how anyone answers anything.
yeah, you’re right. If they don’t want to read that’s not our problem
If I chose to draw my rendition of a loan signing, it would resemble an iceberg. That stack of loan documents is what I/we see, and the other 99% is hidden below the waterline. Every personal purchase, refi, and equity line I’ve obtained involved an intense team effort culminating in 30 minutes of signing with a witness closer (Notary stranger) who probably snooped my 1003 to figure out why I live in such a nice house. The signing part is painful enough, and the last thing a signer needs to hear is a stranger mansplaining legalese at their kitchen table.
Your signer’s going to be in for a surprise when they realize they own capital gains tax because of their refusal to read and answer properly. Oh well, you can lead a horse to water….
I just tell them to read these questions and answer them appropriately. How they answer is up to them.
I would never even attempt to explain all of that legal stuff to a signer. Whichever lawyer wrote that stuff got paid well to do it. Let them explain it to the signer. Not my job!
I know right ?!?!?

Couldn’t have said it better. Their wisdom or lack of, not our issue. lol
It’s not your responsibility to make sure they read the question. That’s what makes us adults.
