Cloud Signings LLC Non Payment

Title companies have gotten really cheap. I have been in the business since 1982. I have never seen anything like it. Our toner, our time, our E&O, our continuing EDU, our gas and our experience. Truthfully, I may write back and counter but most of the time, I just delete. I have respect for myself, and expertise, if my exceptional work is not appreciated, that is on them. They can hire the newbies that make mistakes and actually cost them more. No sweat from me.

This is for Cloud Signings in CA (714 area code) … I did work for them in September. I was fine with the net 60 days to pay (which - IMHO - is ridiculous as it was only $50), but going on 90 days. I (stupidly) accepted another signing with them before I realized they were the slow payers (got it burned in my memory now). Not only have I had to chase them down for the shipping label BOTH TIMES which causes me loads of stress (I don’t want the signers to be hurt by this), but they still haven’t paid for the previous order. I am going to refuse to work with them. I am building a business, not a charity. I have bills to pay!

After incomplete listings, no contact information besides the meeting place, and non-payment issues, I stopped taking their signings all together. A month later, I thought it may have just been a one-off, so I accepted another one. Suprise. Suprise. Happened again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Will not be taking any more assignments from them.

Side note: Billing only works on the weekends.

I have an open invoice from a signing I did for them back on 8/5. I called, emailed, and sent invoices with no response. This evening I sent and email asking them to remit payment or reach out with an actual payment date so I won’t have to verify the title company compensated them.

You have to keep on them. They take a long time to pay. Sometimes over 120 days. Don’t let it go on that long, and don’t accept any other jobs if you have outstanding invoices with them. If I have any invoices over 60 days, I decline all jobs until I am paid, and I let them know that is why I am declining.

Why do I keep doing work for them, because eventually the pay gets better and the jobs are pretty easy. I take the jobs that are on the way while I am going somewhere already. So, I just make a stop and pick up a few extra dollars.

Exactly correct keep on them constantly and you’ll get paid. I just quit closing for them at all, along with prestige notaries… nothing at all “prestige” about them…

I have emailed them about 20 times. They are slow to answer and slow to pay. They don’t answer phones. I am trying to get paid for November 2024.

He blacklisted me and lied saying “received documents were late”, “documents required corrections” and “notary refused to correct documents”.

I’m new here so don’t yet know how to post an original post. I’m also new to Cloud Signings. I’ve yet to “qualify” for a payment but have learned this (and forgive me if everyone already knows this but it does appear some don’t)…

  1. They pay on the FRIDAY AFTER DAY 60 after the closing is complete.

  2. You have to SUBMIT AN INVOICE. (They expect you to make up your own - they don’t provide.) Their documentation states that if you don’t submit an invoice within (and then they don’t state the timeframe!), they have a right to not pay you!

  3. On our invoice, make sure to include BOTH the file number and the order number on your invoice.

  4. IMPORTANT: Submit your invoice one week prior to Day 60. (So now you have to remember that for two months!)

  5. Don’t bother calling them. You can only access someone if you enter the first two letters of their last name but in case you didn’t notice, all written communication only includes the last initial of the person!

  6. NEVER ACCEPT THEIR OPENING offer of $20-$30. If you respond that you want more, they will immediately respond at $75-$100. That still might not be acceptable to you but to each his own. (I’d be rolling in $$$ if I would only agree to drive an hour north to Santa Fe!)

  7. They have always provided a Pre-paid Mailing Label so if you’re having problems with that, don’t take “no” for an answer!

My first job with them is due to be paid next weekend - we’ll see! I have two others after that - again, we’ll see! (And it took me 8 emails to get the above information.)

Barb, I would submit the invoice immediately. I would not wait until 1 week prior to Day 60.

Agree 1000%! And that is exactly what I am doing. HOWEVER, the “week prior” instruction is what I received from Cloud Signing. I’m doing both because I don’t trust that they won’t “lose” my invoice if I file right away. The threat that they won’t pay if they don’t get an invoice within a proper time frame is scarey so I’m protecting myself! I can’t tell others what to do but your point is EXCELLENT.

OK if you are saying to send a billing reminder a week before it is due, I can absolutely get onboard with that

The direction to send the invoice a week before pay is due is not my idea - it was the direction I was given by Cloud Signing. I have no faith in sending something that close to a pay date nor do I have any faith in sending an invoice 60 days before pay date. So I’m going to do both!

@barbmadaras Good Plan :tada:

A better plan would be to honor the sagacious advice shared by your fellow Business Owners/Notary Cafe members who advise to RUN the other direction & DO NOT accept any Signing Orders [SOs] from this NON-PAYING business entity . . .

See the following page that lists threads sharing their insightful wisdom:

Guess what - if you read the fine print… yes, they pay within 60 days BUT it is 60 BUSINESS DAYS which usually works out to be 90 days!

Obviously that is a better plan but I did three jobs for them and wanted to see what others were experiencing as far as getting paid! Yes, they pay within 60 days but it is within 60 BUSINESS DAYS which usually works out to 90 days! Unfortunately for me, they are 90% of my local offerings but no more, no more!

But remember - they don’t pay within 60 days! They pays within 60 BUSINESS DAYS which is usually about 30 months!

@barbmadaras Good! I admire your tenacity & fortitude in this regard.

Hoping that MUCH BETTER clients are coming your way!

60 business days to get paid is an unreasonable/asinine wait time. Almost as if they are counting on you forgetting to ask them to pay you
