I’m not surprised. I had a company call me after a signing and said I covered typed print with my seal, and it had to be corrected, or the bank would not take it. The wording that was covered was “place seal here.”
Not sure where you are, @awl1957 , but in FL it’s stated in our regulations that our seal is not to be placed over any other text.
This was in the square where they wanted the seal to be placed. I am in Louisiana
What did they say when you explained the issue with their own template? Bet they loved that.
This is just me, but per statute, I probably would have stamped right above or below that box and attach a post-it note explaining why I had to do it that way.
She was so confused, I placed it in another spot next to the box and that seemed to satisfy her. Never heard back from them on this loan.
I have a small rectangle that fits on teeny forms like the vehicle licensing form where there’s no room at all. My round seal I’ve learned exactly where it will fit. But I carry two smaller ones just in case.
I always wonder why they put that “stamp” or “seal” word where they do anyway.
I’m curious as to why we, the notaries are to be concerned about lender and title’s lack of preparation. Bottom line, they want it on the books as being scheduled and that creates a monopoly of our time.

When I began encountering small spaces or printing within the Section for the Notarial Stamp, I’ve purchased TWO sizes of Notarial stamps - one standard size rectangle & one ‘pocket-sized’ rectangle.
In my direct experience over nearly two decades one size (or the other) will fit within the spacing constraints presented on the document.

In Tennessee they require our stamps to be round and the smallest I have been able to purchase is 1 5/8 inch stamp. There are forms, that even with that stamp, I still have to be very precise in order to not hit any printed areas. Some Arizona forms it won’t fit, but stamping over text on those doesn’t seem to be a problem.
