There were requests last week for a location that’s about 2 hours from me. I countered one particular location and dates 2 or 3 times.
Now the requests comes through for today at ASAP. And my reply is - tomorrow. I can do that tomorrow. Why do they ask notaries to go over the hills and through the dale at night. When they could have had this on a calendar last week.
Drives me absolutely crazy. Honestly. Just schedule the darn thing.
I don’t blame you - I always hated that. But I have to chuckle at this - “Now the requests comes through for today at ASAP” - my first response is like yours - “tomorrow is ASAP as I can do it” 
I did two last week where document dates had passed. That’s a scheduling failure. Not a notary failure.
Unless assignments are in my zip code, I am turning away anything else that comes in for same day or ASAP. I have taken some of them in the past, but I find it too stressful. And too often, they don’t even have the documents readily available. I no longer feel obligated.
