I had 2 law offices and one title company that were willing to let me do closings at their places but they are often already full with their own work. I find that most title companies do not want to do this. I am also seeing that many won’t accept law offices but demand title companies. How is it going with other notaries?
Are they allowing you to do anyone’s closings in their offices?
I am talking about signing companies that call me looking for the ability to close one of their deals at a title company in Houston, not a title company that has locations here.
Title companies have told me it is too much of a liability. That closing someone else docs is a risk and if something goes wrong they will associate with the name that they closed at and not the actual ones that drew up the papers.
Some times you can rent a day office from virtual office spaces like regus. There are lawyers that office in the same location so that has passed for me.
Really you can rent from Regus using the fact that Lawyers office in the same location. I thought it had to be at an Attorney’s office w/their address so I’ve turned down several signings as a result of not finding Title Co’s or Attorney’s that will let you rent a spot. Can we get verification on this and I’m in the State of Texas. Thanks for posting…
I find having an actual office space is worth the investment. My office is small, but the building has a conference room I can use for signings. I get some walk in business from my window sign, and a small but steady stream from the other tenants. Of course, the costs are tax deductible.
It would be good to consult a lawyer on this particular topic. My brother used this site as a reference to find a suitable lawyer.
