Help me out- mobile hot spot recommendations

hey all,
Where I live is rural , I struggle sometimes with connectivity and as you know scanning between appointments without going home can be a huge time save and the difference between 2 orders a day and 4 . I need recommendations on mobile hot spots. I have mobile phone plans with Verizon and t mobile. A lot of the reviews for their mobile hot spots aren’t that great but I’m not out ruling them. I’m open to hotspots from other sources such as a net gear hot spot and paying for the service separately. So, what do you have?

I’m not in an area that I would need a mobile hot spot, so I can’t assist, but I do know that some mobile scanners can just use an USB cord to get it to upload to your computer/phone. I had a mobile hot spot from another profession I was in, and it was through Verizon, but it was only really good where Verizon was really good (which is my carrier for home and cell) but in other areas where Verizon wasn’t great, I didn’t have great service with my hot spot. I’m not sure that I helped at all.

I do not have any recommendation for you, but I do wish to share why I don’t use hotspots.
Sometimes it can really tough to perform mobile scanning, especially due to connectivity. It also can lead to other unforeseen and preventable problems involving by exposing borrowers personal private information. Unless you have a strong encryption wireless internet connection, such as VPN. Consider the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. That’s why I do not perform mobile scanning or emailing loan documents. When I perform hybrid or IPEN assignments, I will ask to use the borrowers wifi connections that is password protected. I would recommend that you consider asking the borrowers to use their wifi for mobile scanning.

In my own experience, the best way to scan documents is connecting the laptop directly to the scanner, not wireless. Is faster and secure.

I always scan in the car and never use wireless.

How do you upload to the platform from there ?

This is my preferred method but as a back up I want a hotspot for the signers who aren’t comfortable with me using their network or don’t have internet ( a lot of my senior clients to don’t )

Although not a hotspot, I physically wire the scanner to my laptop and create the pdf. Then I go to fedex, sit in the parking lot and upload the scan to the platform followed by dropping off the package (I have not had any scan and wait for approval signings). most of my signing come through signature closers and you have approximately 2 hours to get the scans in.

Most smart phones can be used as a hotspot, your wireless cell phone carrier should have a data plan that allows your phone to become a hotspot. Also, you may want to ask your wireless carrier about VPN for security purposes.

I started there with my phone I have two an iPhone through mobile an android through Verizon. My hotspot with t mobile works most of the time, Verizon…it’s a joke . For now I am just going to stick with using the t mobile one .

I wish we had a Fedex , I live rural and in a small town and a lot of my jobs are rural. my drop for fed ex is a dollar general or walgreens. It’s weird lol. I have decided to continue to use my phones hotspot as long as I have signal.
