When scanning copies of photo ID’s the signing service or title company reply’s that they are illegible. How do I resolve this? The docs come across fine
Most scanners have different settings for photos, text. Try scanning IDs with proper setting.
I print the photo then scan it.
That is what I have been doing. It looks fine on my end but apparently not on theirs… go figure!
Some of my scan packages are 150+ pages. I am not comfortable changing settings. I usually just text it or email from my phones photo app.
You can save it as a pdf and print it and it scans as a legal size copy.
Tell the signing service\title company to QUOTE get a life ENDQUOTE
(I’m kidding of course, but I’m in a mood this morning)
I take the picture with my cell phone and download it to SnapDocs that way. I have nevere had any issues doing it that way
Agreed. Often when I scan a paper copy of an ID, it looks awful. Either take a scan of the original ID or use your phone to make a pdf of it. Seems to work better.
Thank you…I will definitely try.
Disclaimer: I just turned 70 so my technical skills are suspect. So I have to save the photo to My computer to upload/ download to SnapDocs?
I have a paid adobe subscription, so I was able to download and use the adobe scan app to my phone. So I scan the ID to a pdf file. If the signing service app allows for direct upload I do it from my phone. Otherwise, I email the image to myself and create it as a pdf on my laptop.
I have come to love doing Rocket files because they just want an ID validation form signed no copies of ID.
@jwillideb
Concur
with @jennifer.shaffor ‘s technique - that is, IF the hiring entity doesn’t have a webportal to directly upload the image into their platform.

I will import the id to my computer, either by downloading it, or emailing it to myself. Then, I open it in a photo editing program. I use photoshop. I then reduce the size, enhance if necessary and save it. Then, I can upload it separately or print it and scan it.
Two things, I take a photo with my phone, email it to myself, print it in color, scan it with a color scan and make the file. Then scan the doc’s in black and white. Up load each file. Color photo’s do not scan worth a darn in black and white.
My opinion and they are like butt-holes everyone has one. I don’t give a darn whether the signing service can read the ID perfectly. All they need to know is I got it. My copy in the package is fully readable. That should suffice that I got it, don’t trust me? Further how do I know the persons at the signing service will not use it for Identity Theft, where is my copy of all those peoples BGS for my records. There is no trust we are doing our job correctly.
Same here. Upload a photo to Snapdocs or whatever platform. Sometimes you have to convert the file to a pdf. As most of us use monochrome printers it is very difficult to print a clear image. Those monochrome printers can scan color but you won’t have the printer with you at the assignment.
I concur. Is not my signature and notary stamp proof that I verified identification? Purchasing an Adobe subscription is an additional expense I have trouble justifying based on the low ball offers and 30-40 day wait to get paid, cost of CE classes, license renewal, insurance, supplies, etc.
I do not scan mobile, early on, the mobile scanner I purchased never worked well. It would grab additional pages and was too slow and frustrating. I have an office scanner that can scan 50 pages at a time and a dual drawer printer.
The best way to resolve that is when the signer fills out the application they send a copy of their id along with the application. Why should we take the risk of taking a picture of their id on our phones in the event it gets breached! I no longer take a picture of their id’s but ask the signers prior to the signing to take a photo copy of their own ID
I no longer want the responsibility of taking a picture of their photo id on my phone and be responsible if my phone got breached! I feel that when the signer is filling out the application they should submit it to the loan officer with their other paper work and that should seal the deal that they are the real person from the get go! I love your sense of humor, lol
if it is a snapdoc closing I just open the app and take the picture in the app.
