Inquiry About Platform Activity and Opportunities

I’m new to the notary industry, still getting my feet wet. I’ve signed up for several platforms, including Signing Order, Snap Docs, Notary Rotary, and CXchoice. While Signing Order seems to show some actual work, I’ve noticed that the others are relatively quiet at the moment.

I wanted to ask if this is a common experience, particularly for new notaries like myself, or if these platforms are typically quieter during certain times of the year? Additionally, while I do plan to make physical visits to businesses around my area to promote my services, I’m curious if these platforms are largely dead ends, or if there are any insights or tips you can offer for securing more opportunities through them.

Are there any other sites you’d recommend to sign up for? Or is most of the best options a paid monthly sites?

Thank you for any advice or guidance you can provide!

I can only speak to Notary Rotary and they are not a platform for assigning work. They are a listing site where you can create your profile and people may find you there - along with a tab for Signing Central, giving the good, bad and ugly of many many signing services/title companies. Many of us, back when we started, used SC as our bible for who to sign up with and who to work for and who to avoid like the plague.

It has been very slow this month. It is a cyclical business. We have to navigate the valleys with the peaks. I don’t think paying for a listing generates business when it is slow overall.

Welcome BC! There are a few “hawkers” who tout that six-figures can be made in this industry . . .

Of course, it’s always sagacious to do your own Research PRIOR to jumping in with both feet!

Hopefully, you’ve already created a Business Plan to chart your course & navigate your journey. It will be instrumental in assisting you to manage your business.

Remember to always vet the information you’re utilizing because most folks have ulterior motives & their interests won’t necessarily be in your best interest . . . Caveat Venditor!

This business sector is strongly influenced by multiple factors within the Financial Sector. So, it’s like most businesses . . . lots of peaks & valleys.

If you’d like to see how much is actually made currently (survey results as recent as a bit more than a year ago) within this business sector, check out the following threads within the GOLDMINE database here at Notary Cafe:

@BCsignatures This information will also prove quite helpful:

I’ve recommended previously via the Notary Cafe forum on multiple occasions that if a potential client is new to you & if the Fee & Payment Terms are amenable to your business model => accept the Signing Order [SO] & then vet them (prior to providing your professional services).

Accessing the database to locate info about potential clients has saved many of us an inordinate amount of time ‘chasing’ payments for Services professionally provided to potential non-payers . . .

===>>> PLUS, there’s one additional technique that you may find to be QUITE EFFECTIVE . . . Code the Contact List in your phone . . .

  • Why take the time to do that?

Because you will IMMEDIATELY KNOW beyond the shadow of a doubt when a call comes in . . . who to accept & who to reject.

One technique for Coding your Contact List would be to place a leading 2-character prefix that identifies the Group that phone number has placed themselves within from demonstrated behavior:

  • NP = Non-Payer
  • SP = Slow Payer
  • LB = Low Ball Fees
  • LD = Late Docs
  • NN = Non-negotiator

Etc., etc., etc.

There are several other techniques (Search Google) for Coding your Contact List to assist you in filtering your Inbound calls.
