Is a mobile scanner necessary to have?

Is a mobile scanner necessary? Like almost everything in this business, it depends.

I’m in a geographic region that is over-saturated with notaries and the population density is such that there are always lots of available signings. I don’t have to travel very far to service them. Consequently, I almost always close enough to my office to scan there instead of in my car or some other remote location. It’s always worked out for me in the over 2000 signings I’ve done in 5 years.

I can see where those notaries who are more rural or have other mitigating factors affecting the thorough and timely completion of their orders will find it advantageous, if not absolutely necessary to have a mobile printer/scanner.

In the end, necessity will be the mother of mobile equipment implementation.

Couldn’t do my signings without one

What company pays $5 extra for scanbacks? All of the companies I work with pay ZERO extra for scanbacks. I ignore these offers that state they have to have scanbacks 2 hours after the signing appointment begins.

When scans are required I tell them when they’ll get them and when docs will ship because of that. I don’t lose anything because I can’t scan in 2 hours. I find when you are really clear about what you can and can’t do - they don’t really push back. I also tell some that they can have same day ship OR scans but rarely will they get both. Signing Services communicate what they want. We have to clearly communicate what we’re going to do. That usually solves any issue. Does with me anyway.

It usually solves any issue for me, too. When it doesn’t, I give back the job. I know what limitations I have in terms of scanbacks/same-day shipping. If I suspect that it might be an issue, I communicate that to the hiring party before I print the documents. It’s their choice whether the scanbacks are more important to them than having the documents back the next day. This mainly applies to afternoon signings. Last pickup times seem to be getting earlier and earlier.

Would you mind sending me a picture of your mobile set up? I’m trying to be space efficient and would love to see your workability like this example. hservplus@gmail.com

6 years no scanner and I’m doing fine. For small packets Adobe Scan is free and works great on my Samsung S25 Ultra. I’m in a very central location where my home is compared to the work area around me. I don’t let companies pressure me with right now demanding either. You have a deadline? Great. You scheduled it,not me. Pick better times.

Nope. I won’t drive that many miles where I can’t get home to scan, and not busy enough to do back to backs any longer. If they have a purchase and waiting for funding, they need it scheduled at a place that has a professional scanner lined up like the realtor’s office.

Hi Vicki Rose, yeah I was using SCAN ACE’s. Apparently I have a lifetime membership or premium subscription for it. I didn’t know that either way it just suddenly started doing the worst scans ever the letters are Dottie looking and half of the page disappears. I have to continually adjust the black white ratio and even then sometimes it doesn’t work. I had to send a lawyer two or three scans that weren’t working finally downloaded ADOBE scan and I had a beautiful scan. My question for you is do you use SCAN ACE? Have you had problems with it? Regards

Your attitude is the same as mine. I always get the scans back to them the same day (even if it’s not until that night). If that’s not good enough for them, find someone else.

Hello Geneva W., I use the FasterScan app on my iPhone. I have scanned over 200 pages with it. I also use a tripod so the pages come out neat and clear.
