It was one of those days

Okay, so yesterday was a unfortunate turn of events! It started with a scheduling mix-up for a loan signing I had. Called the signer to confirm the appointment and they said they’d told the company they couldn’t do the original date and wanted the next day instead. I let the company know, and they said they’d update it. Then, I got the loan package PDF and saw it needed witnesses because of the quitclaim deed enclosed, the company failed to mentioned that in the signing offer. I called the company and the signer to figure it out if the witnesses situation. The signer said they’d find find one person, so I would need to get another one. I talked to the company and they approved my request for the $100 witness fee to hire my retired wife. Not to mention, I recently had to renew my subscription to Adobe Pro application. For some unknown reason my printer went into sleep mode and made it very difficult on getting the documents printed. Since I was running out of time and finally got the documents printed. I noticed the documents weren’t the best in printing, nothing was cut off or grayed out. But I did notice some lines across a few pages. I checked the Pdf edocs and couldn’t get things straighten out, but it didn’t cross out any of the words. Saw a few pages come out as legal, whereas the rest of the pages came out as letter size. Because of time constraints I had to move forward to get to the appointment. I only hope those few differences doesn’t come back to “bite me” as a quality issues. When I got to the signing early, the lender called, because the signers were confused about the date change if it was still going to happen. The lender went on to mentioned, how there was a mix up with the order, because it was supposed to had be completed last Friday. I told him I’d confirmed the signers and I had a witness. I guess the signers forgot that I agreed to do the assignment for the next day. Then, the signer called and said they were on their way and had two witnesses! So, I drove 35 miles with the witness I’d hired and we didn’t even need them. My wife sat outside my car for 45 minutes, plus the 90 minutes travel time, which total like 2.25 hours of their time. The signers kept apologizing, which I totally get. My witness said the signer’s wife even offered for my wife to come inside because it was 90 degrees outside. That explains why the signer’s wife kept apologizing! Needless to say, the signing was completed and the signers stated they truly appreciate my thoroughness in the completion of the loan documents. The singers and witnesses were very nice people, I hope that everything goes well with the funding of their loan. Loan signing business is a very dynamic field and it doesn’t always goes as expected. I must admit, the thought of pulling out of this assignment did cross my mind, especially with the printer not functioning properly and that it was my wife’s birthday. Having good wife’s support goes a long way as being an solopreneur.
