Hi everyone! I have been a notary for some time, but I am only recently (1 month) certified as a Signing Agent. I received my first signing through SnapDocs with Sunshine Signing Co last week and everything went great! Luckily it was an easy one. OK…so I am registered with Vendor Pay on SnapDocs. But I am not sure if Sunshine pays that way. I guess what I need to know is - should I be sending invoices for every signing I complete? or does Snapdocs do this automatically for me? What is the proper protocol here? What if the signing doesnt come via Snapdocs? Im getting requests from many different places. Thanks in advance
Jess
With SnapDocs, the order page will tell you it’s Vendor Pay. If not AND with other companies, the order will usually tell you whether they require an invoice, how, when. Some notaries send an invoice for every one they do. I don’t–just follow what they tell me they want–to the letter!
If it says on the snapdocs “Vendor Pay”, then you will receive a payment through Deluxe Payment Exchange or the vendor will mail you a check.
I worked with the Sunshine. They paid me through Deluxe.
Once your payment arrives, you will receive an email notifying you about your payment. Just follow the sign up instructions and get paid. It is easy:). No invoices.
Thank you both very much! I appreciate your help. This forum has been so useful for me as questions come up.
Hi Jess, you won’t have to guess about who pays using vendor pay, because it will be specified on snapdocs platform/your dashboard.
Snapdocs pays via an e-check. Just as Mila_parealtors says.
I recommend Notary Gadget for running your practice financials for invoices and receivables. Do not use Snapdocs to record fees from “non Snapdocs” companies. The algorithm will interpret your financial data and use it adversely. Snapdocs is a necessary evil. I average$150 per signing and get about 6-8 a month. Last minute offers generate higher revenue. I caution all of you to reconsider doing “debt settlements”. You are liable when you sign “as an agent” of the law firm. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is actively investigating Notaries.

Now that’s a provocative statement! What is the CFPB investigating notaries about? Is it about signing Debt Settlements ‘as an agent’? How do you know this?
It is a factual statement. I know first-hand as Iwas part of CFPB inquiry. I did a signing for NPN Notary for Whitestone Legal Group. The business practice of having a Notary “act an as agent” is a prohibited practice unless the Notary has a contractual relationship with the Financial Firm. Debt settlements via 3rd party are itself a prohibited act.
I thought the CFPB was dissolved a year or two ago.
Not that I’m aware of Linda.
