Nothing is "insulting"

No offer you receive is “insulting”, it’s just business. You take it or you don’t or you successfully negotiate a fee you want. Nothing is personal to the point it can be called insulting. Don’t be thin skinned, just be resolute to what your service is worth.

well said thank you.

@johnsonps306 good post but I would disagree somewhat. IMO the fees offered ($20-$30-$40) ARE an insult to the professionalism and integrity of the notary/signing agent. Those fees just show there is no respect for notaries and what they do.

Seeing the increase in the amount of “instructions” received with packages now tells me there are a lot of notaries who are simply not good at what they do. Hence the low offers. It’s not a personal insult. It’s immature to claim that it is. IMO.

When I began this some 30+ years ago, we not only were respected, we were treated as knowledgeable partners. Now, we’ve got as much ‘respect’ as chewing gum stuck to the bottom of your shoe. (And, yeah, it does kinda hurt a bit.) Even so, I still give them respect…and keep hoping they’ll do likewise. Some do. I don’t get insulted–I just educate them.

Insulted! I have to remind you of the symbiotic relationship signing agents have to signing services and how much it operates like the world‘s oldest profession. If the Person In Management Position (PIMP) offers you a low fee it’s not about you personally, its just that there are thousands of well trained LSA’s just like you that will accept that “insulting” fee.

Love the acronym, Joe. Adding to my street vocabulary…and still laughing about it.

I agree with Linda H. FL. Well said. Thank you!

I think the problem is that inexperienced notaries take the low offers and the documents need to be resigned. The Signing Companies that offer low fees are pocketing the lion’s share of the money and are taking a risk that the documents will be properly completed. If not, there is enough wiggle room in the fee to send out another Newbie or have the notary go back for free.

I’ve taken a few re-sign orders. I don’t think they send a notary back in some situations.

I always perceive the offer as the starting point. I don’t get offended but I do laugh and decline a lot.

That’s my point exactly, I agree.

Squeezing the most out of people for the least amount possible, and showing no respect to workers, is the new American way. As an importer for 30+ years, I can tell you this comes straight from the Chinese
model. I’ve seen it first hand over there, and I can see it evolving into that here. Just look how the States pay (and respect) our teachers.

Gave me pause… but, now that you’ve said it, I realize how right you are.

Take nothing personally, says the Toltec wisdom of the Four Agreements. Because it’s not personal.

I am frustrated by the low offers really and truly they are grossss loww. I have been a notary since 2018 closed over 10,000 loans now. This is my bread and butter people need to see the value of a skilled notary.
