Premium Signing Services- Payment followup

This is follow up post from my last one on the forum, my life has been so buys I hadn’t have time to update my original post which I am taking the time to post today:

Original post:
Dear Notary Café Community,

I wanted to provide an update on my experience with Premium Signature Services (PSS) to ensure this information is readily available for community members making signing decisions.

As of today, I have completed 11 signings for PSS in January 2024 and 21 in February 2024. However, despite an invoice being sent for all completed work in January, I have yet to receive payment. My communication attempts, including a second email request and inquiries for receipt confirmation, have gone unanswered.

While PSS’s disclaimer states a 30-day payment timeframe and specifies how to contact their accounting department, the lack of responsiveness after exceeding that timeframe raises concerns. Timely payment is critical for any business, including notary services. Adding payment chasing to a notary’s duties is not only inconvenient but also unacceptable.

Therefore, I have decided to remove PSS from my list of preferred service providers and have cancelled all future signings with them. While alternative signing companies like Mobile Notary Zone and Precision Signing have demonstrated commendable promptness in both communication and payment, the persistent delays experienced with PSS are incompatible with my professional expectations.

This communication serves as a factual account of my experience and is not intended to influence specific decisions. However, I believe transparency is crucial for informed decision-making within our community. I will further update this topic upon receiving any resolution from PSS.

When did I finally receive payment:
February 02/22/2024 as a bulk.

I received this email from them i believe last week:
Dear Ivette,

I wanted to inform you that I saw your post about my company on Notary Café. You must not understand how my payment method works, especially for a notary like yourself who had multiple signings in one month for us. I send payments out once a month for all work completed for the prior month. That is why you received ONE check for every order from the prior month. Most notary’s actually prefer to get one big check instead of a bunch of little checks, especially when using deluxe echeck. So for some orders is may take 30-45 days but for others orders only a few days to get paid depending on the date that I cut checks. If I were to pay every single notary on every order exactly right at the 30 day mark I would be cutting checks on the daily. I know several other signing services who use this method as well.

Please do not bad mouth my company by stating that you did not get paid, because that is not true and I have proof that you did get paid and cashed the checks.

Thanks,
Jackie Hansen

I was paid for completed assignments from as early as 01/08/2024 on February 22, 2024, which exceeded the agreed-upon payment terms. Despite reaching out to the accounting department for clarification or an estimated payment date, I received no response. This lack of communication prompted me to seek information about others’ experiences with this company regarding payment.

As independent contractors, we play a crucial role in the loan closing process, often fronting costs for signing companies, escrow, and title. It’s essential for all parties involved to maintain a professional and collaborative relationship.

While I appreciate the opportunity to share experiences within our industry, timely payment is crucial for effective cash flow management. Open communication about payment terms is essential to ensure a positive working relationship between signing agents and companies.

I believe in the value of transparency and mutual respect. By upholding these principles, we can strengthen our industry as a whole.

Additionally, I believe it’s important to be able to share experiences and feedback within industry forums without fear of reprisal. Open dialogue is essential for identifying areas of improvement and fostering a healthy business environment.

I apologize for the delay in providing an update. I want to reiterate that my intention was to share my personal experience with PSS. The information I shared is accurate and based on my own encounters. I did not make any false statements or attempt to dissuade others from working with the company.

With four years of signing experience, I’ve encountered various payment practices within the industry. Unfortunately, there have been instances where payment was delayed or never received. This can be especially challenging for new signing agents who may be unfamiliar with industry standards and the importance of consistent follow-up. Sharing my experiences is intended to help others navigate potential challenges and advocate for timely payment.

For Reference, here is your original post on Notary Cafe:

@ivettelarin Thank You for sharing your direct experience (in February - see the above direct url link), for following up after receipt of payment, & for sharing the verbatim PSS owner response you received.

You may have already seen the post wherein I specifically addressed this industry sector predominant scenario earlier today on the Notary Cafe forum:

I struggle to understand how a company can put in writing their payment time is 30 days and choose to pay instead after that time, particularly because it’s more convenient (?). If that reflects your true experience, I am sorry you went through that. Is it not important for signing services to have the same integrity that they expect from Notary Signing Agents?

Hear! Hear! :ribbon::tada:

Convert that from a query (understood that it’s rhetorical) into a FIRM STATEMENT!
