Pricing of Estate Pkg

hey guys,
Just completed an estate package with every document possible, from wills, to trusts to organ donations. it took about appx. 2 1/2 hours. With maybe 20-25 stamps. It was about 10minutes from my house. I did not have to print any documents. I am in New York City. What would you have charged? I charged 150. To much? To little?

Thank you

Gary

$10 per notarization (as allowed by FL law) plus a travel fee and a fee for time at the table. Probably $200-$225, providing I had no other time conflicts.

This is based on MY area. If I moved south a bit I could get more.

I get about 1 per week. $150 is about right, but all assignments should be prequalified before you agree. Questions like how many signers, or will an attorney be present, witnesses? Signing location? Will there be snacks? It’s definitely okay to charge per signature too.

I charge less if an attorney does all the work.

:tada: Excellent Question! :tada:

For the parameters identified within your Original Post [OP], for the travel time (brief), signing appointment time (2.5 hours), and the number of notarizations (20-25), the Fee charged would have been approximately $300.

I completed a signing appointment quite similar to that yesterday afternoon with the signers providing the Witnesses & had 20-minute travel time (one-way). They had an Estate Planning binder prepared by an Attorney (approximately 200 pages), & 18 notarizations. The signing appointment took 1.5 hours for a Fee of $220.

As I often express, the Fees charged vary from region-to-region as well as other variable factors to consider.

I would have charged $250 for a similar signing in my area. This week I did an appointment that was 3 separate wills with one notarization each and 2 witnesses supplied by me but my drive was a hour each way . I charged 215.

Thank you very much for this. We had similar meetings. The binder was also about 200 pages. and prepared by a lawyer with sticky note instructions all over the place . So I am in the ball park.

I am in NY for context.

Thank you

Here in Florida, we can charge $10 per signature, plus extra for stuff like printing, travel, etc. You gotta know your numbers - what it costs you to run your business and what profit you want. I use this little formula: TQ=GED=GV=$$ (Time x Quality of my time = Growth x Education = Gross Volume of business = $$$$). Everyone’s costs are different, so my price might not work for you. If you felt good about $150, but it is smart to check prices, but you got the job and made some money, right?
