I received an email from this company requesting
someone to conduct “passive observation” at a venue
for legal purposes.
I’ve never heard of anything like this. It sounds sketchy
They provide “nationwide legal services”
@jennjoneis Do you know if they want you to swear someone in for a deposition?
If yes, you usually don’t stay for the duration of the deposition, just for the swear-in segment at the onset.
This may be something different though . . .
======
I performed a cursory Search for you & discovered this recent thread:
Have you already seen it?
They were asking someone to monitor what tv channels were selected to show at a bar for a period of time. SUPER sketchy
Thank you for the additional details . . .
Agreed
Not sure if same co., but, yes, I’ve had an identical request. It’s got something to do with ‘pay per view’ on sporting events. Didn’t do it…sitting around a sports bar is not my thing. Don’t think it paid that well either, but it was quite a while ago.
yeah, it’s not my thing either, and I thought spying on people was illegal anyway
Hello, @jennjoneis
I’m Daniel from Served 123 LLC. Recently, we requested what’s known as a passive observation or a site inspection. Our team includes several Notary Publics, and we prioritize giving assignments to fellow Notary Publics. We’ve been engaged in this kind of work for more than seven years. Although it might initially appear somewhat questionable, I assure you that all our activities are completely legitimate. Our essential role is to verify that establishments are not illegally broadcasting sporting events.

We hope our explanation shined some light on our inquiries.
@Daniel =>>> Your query/statement should be to the OP @jennjoneis
Thank you for that clarification! Good to know you guys are the real deal

I’ve been requested for those too. If I were single with nothing better to do, I’d do it. It’s not sketchy, it’s just doing undercover work. Sure, when you got your certificate to be a notary, you didn’t know you would get this random other work, but I guess they like that you have a criminal history check at no expense to them, so you can get paid enough to buy a couple drinks.
Agree… if only I were younger, single and it paid better…
I have to say that I’m pretty open to weird assignments–as long as the money is EXCELLENT. I’ve done some really interesting things. But, IME, the weird ones usually aren’t worth it.
This is almost like mystery shopper!
detective work sounds cool, just not at that time, or in that place
