SERVICE LINK-Rates?

I applied w/service link, answered about 10 questions, got response regarding what I want for HELOC and REFI.

I’m in California they’re in Pennsylvania. Their reply to that was $62/$72 respectively for two sets. CA sets are 125-160.

Why ask when they fix fee? My state fee is $15.per signature (I know doesn’t always math with ss’s) and idk what PA gets but it looks like they want to use their rate as a setpoint?

Is there volume w/Service Link or their just another ss w/hit and miss notifications?

***I would only accept neighborhood orders in 5 miles at these rates.

Feedback, curious.

@marlassocalnotary Many Professional Signing Agents [PSAs] several years ago said :prohibited: NO!! :prohibited: to their low fee structure.

I’m in California also, in Northern California. I work with Servicelink WHEN they meet my fees. It’s not often; but, it does happen. If they call me, they’re usually ready to accept. I’m not on their auto-assign – those are the low fees. When they call me, it’s usually a California office calling.

They know I’m willing to drive long distances. They know I’m bilingual in Spanish. They know I have a mobile scanner. They know I have 20+ years of experience doing this. They also know I only entertain professional fees.

Agree with Yoli. Don’t get on auto-assign. Wait for the call. Nobody has volume anymore.

To get onboarded by First American I had to state $90 as my fee. Otherwise they wouldn’t add me. I do almost nothing at $90 and work for them a good bit. I haven’t worked for ServiceLink. Haven’t needed to add them.

One wonders what mathematical formula is used to arrive at a $62 fee. I gave up on ServiceLink several years ago because I felt like is was getting nickel and dime’d and didn’t want to negotiate for an extra $28 when I deserved more for the signings they were offering. I figured that my path was clearer for the higher paying jobs when newer notaries were busying themselves with ServiceLink’s itty bitty fees.

Servicelink told me in my area they pay 95 for HELOC and 100 for refi. I sent a short list of zip codes at that rate and included rates for out of area.

I reached the same conclusion as a business owner several years ago as well.

I set my fees at whatever Service Link recommended, but do not have any auto assignments. They must have figured out that I don’t work for under $100 ever, even right down the street, because they only reach out to me with higher fees. I did a 22 page HELOC for them 5 minutes from my house yesterday for $125 (no negotiating, what they offered right away). Today I have a refi scheduled in my town about 12 minutes away, larger packet, but I accepted $125 since it was so close. I personally wouldn’t give up on them, just don’t accept low paying jobs

@Diesel3985 Concur with your assessment; however, as many are fully cognizant the Fees vary from region-to-region & from State-to-State. Some regions this particular business entity will not negotiate whatsoever . . . and in other regions, they’re amenable to negotiating . . .

As I often recommend, each business owner must make their own calculations of their Fee Schedule to arrive at a profitable number when making the determination of whether to accept a Signing Order [SO] or not, based upon the Fee that’s proferred.

That seems to be the way to go for any of the companies that require you to set a minimum rate with them. Several will say we can’t onboard you if you don’t set x rate and you can still get onboarded but nothing says you have to actually accept x rate.

Signing services want to pay us ( mobile notaries) less for doing more.

We are the ones printing, driving, dealing with the signer, notarizing and sending to fedex\ ups.
We should be getting paid more than a notary who simply meets the signer at a title company

Service link is a horribly low paying company. I on boarded with them last year and asked if I could change my rates (They are paying $70 where i am) I told them I wouldn’t be able to take ANY signings at that rate, MAYBE I could do it only if it was in my neighborhood. They had me update my location availability but they still send me requests for hours I do not work and locations I will not go for that low of a fee. Every time I get one I respond with “fee issue” and state my rate. I have only got my fee when they call and are desperate, maybe twice in the last year! If everyone would refuse to take that low pay they would have to raise their fees, unfortunately there are still the notaries, usually PT notaries doing this on the side that take these fees and so they won’t ever fairly compensate everyone else as long as this is happening. I wish everyone would stand up for fair compensation.

No one really knows what other notaries are working for. Apparently in this area the fees thing has caught on because their refi rate is $100. While it is true new notaries are struggling with obtaining experience, I’m not sure how many in my area are working for the low fees. There is less and less pushback on counter offers.

It’s surprising to me how many new notaries have no idea what to charge. I’ve learned ot stay well away from facebook groups for notaries because they are newbie nightmares.

@FeliciaNM505 Your direct experience with this particular business entity mirrors my direct experience as well.
