who knows about The Opal Group & the need to open an account with STRIPE to get paid via PayPal, Zelle, etc etc. Seems like they are a scam operator / signing agency that will only pay via online banking… no checks sent by them. The STRIPE sign up process does not sound legit. I would avoid completely
@dennishealey No direct experience with this particular business entity, but ===>>> Have you seen these two posts:
Hi Dennis, I hope you’re well. I’ve worked with The Opal Group plenty of times. They used to pay via cash app, Venmo, zelle, etc. This was until recently when they updated stripe to make getting payment quicker and easier. Stripe is also commonly used by Snapdocs vendor pay in some or all circumstances and by other companies you may encounter. The Opal Group is a company based out of NY that generally acts as a middleman between a consumer (or for a consumer) and the notary. Similar to a signing company but more General Notary Work style. They also commonly send offers out for process serving, fingerprinting, and field inspections. They are a legit company
Is the someone that you would suggest I reach out for payment? The last 3 jobs I did for them I have not received payment for. 2 being over 30 days ago, one which I had to pay for the RON out of my own pocket.
I am a new Notary and completed 2 assignments. It took a week to complete each assignment because another task was added each day. Its been 3 weeks and I have not been paid. I am receiving conflicting information on receiving payment. I am calling and emailing every other day my invoices. any advice?
Did you receive payment yet?
@amg.notary Thank You for your query.
Sorry to read that you’re experiencing remuneration difficulties with this business entity.
First, wondering if you researched the Notary Cafe database regarding the reputation of this business entity prior to completing the Signing Order . . .
Second, were you able to review the informative data within the two germane threads I referenced above?
Third, have you reviewed the data found within the following thread (see direct url link below) for support & guidance regarding a proven effective method for receipt of payment from this business entity?
Fourth, have you reached out directly to the Title Company for this Signing Order to advise them of the nonpayment status & discuss the topic with them further in that regard?
======
Please remember to ALWAYS access the database to locate information about potential clients PRIOR TO completing any Signing Order. The data found within the Notary Cafe database has saved many of us an inordinate amount of time ‘chasing’ payments for Services professionally provided to potential non-payers . . .
Yes. After threatening to call the people that hired them. Some of the emails had the hiring party attached
Avoid this company, after trying to reach by email, with no response, cannot contact by phone or address, I am still waiting to be paid from October! Their “Stripe” app asks for to much personal information. I will not use, so I guess a lesson learned.
So to you other notaries out there, do NOT engage business with this company.
Stripe is actually a very secure app for payment. It’s how I get most of my tax documents.
