Schedulers are instructed how high they’re authorized to go on counteroffers without “approval” from management. I have to laugh at the old line they give you. “I have to get approval and I’ll get back to you” usually means “I’ll move on to the next notary and get back to you if I can’t find someone else to do the job cheaper”. It’s very doubtful if they ever “ask” anyone for approval, but they use that line to get you to take their offer since you know they probably won’t call you back.
Exactly, Steve. When a scheduler gives you that line, you can always let 'em know you cannot and will not hold that time slot for them without a confirmation. If something else comes in while they’re “getting approval”, you will accept that other offer. They can either put a rush on that approval or they can find someone else. ![]()
My experience has been that I get the higher fee.
