Things are not looking good out there people. I am officially sad. 😢

Maybe I missed something here. I DID say Newbies take low ball offers to get the experience. If we don’t tell them (when they ask) how the business works, they will just research it. I DID NOT say they would make more money with experience. I DIDN’T even elaborate on the backfill of “more Newbies” probably because that applies to all jobs.

Thank you for that! A bit of positivity in a very negative field lately.

This is the way to keep notary’s fee lower. I hope all we understand this?!

I agree and disagree with you. If you are newbie for 10 days, it means you almost haven’t been a newbie. So, based on it I disagree. But if someone feels newbie for 1 year, then sorry, your state3ment works.

No it’s really happening. There’s no excuse for it.

I’m sure they are married with financial help.

Notaries may be a dime a dozen but only the strong will survive. The ones who thought they could make a killing in this business will realize that it’s not so easy and will fall by the wayside. This business should not be used as your sole source of income. There are lots of easier ways to make a living. I can assure you that the few people who actually do make six figures in this business work their asses off…more so than most people are willing to do.

Preach!!! This business is not easy and anyone who came into it thinking they were going to make 6 figures the first week, month or year… well I have some moon rocks I collected myself and I am letting it go for a steal… any takers?:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Honesty is the best policy!

When someone asks how I got into it, I share my story. I know many won’t take the plunge but some might. I think it’s great we have a community here.

Exactly! I’ve been in this business for 16 years in a major metropolitan city. I feel like 2008 is here again. It hasn’t just slowed down, it is plummeting every day. I contacted my main title companies, National Title companies, and the sad news is we have been flooded over the last year with new NOTARIES low balling and accepting minimal fees as they try to get “experience” and the average going price is now between $60 - $80 for a refi with paper docs! All of the programs out there that set up these training classes claiming people can make an easy $10k a month has ruined our industry. Why lowball the fees??? Title companies are not lowering their fees to lenders and borrowers- they are gaining profit with leaps and bounds while we are losing our businesses overnight. Grrrrrrrr.

I say BS on reputation. I’ve been in it for decades, have an A+ reputation with local and major national offices and Title companies have little to no “loyalty” to reputation. They are focusing on bottom line $. The more they save the more they make. They have shown for as long as I’ve seen that they are willing to take and absorb the risk of errors made by hiring newbies at rock bottom prices. Sure they’ll call us finely skilled for VIP files but that’s not the majority of the orders to be filled.

The Mark Wills YouTube videos and his students are saying it’s easy and fun to make $100k being a notary signing agent, any thoughts about that? I just saw one of his students say she makes 8k a month even when it’s slow? I just want to hear your take on All this please

I had found a big drop off in December and there isn’t any work hardly. I didn’t know what was up but am going to check around and see what is happening. There doesn’t seem to be any notices of jobs available.

His classes are total BS. 2020 was the Best year ever in over 16 years as a full-time closer who goes above and beyond every day but Sunday. Traveling up to 130 mile radius. It may have been possible in 2020 which it was for me, however, it’s not easy breezy as you’re working 8 to 12 closings a day. Yes, literally 8 to 12 refi closings a day! Do you know what that does to your sanity? I sure do! With all the newbies out there and the lowball fees, we will all be lucky if we’re making minimum wage salary by the end of the year.
