…
Well that’s good, I hope all the ignorant people accepting those fees get eliminated from the industry faster
As a former business development exec, the downturn in the economy and number of signings is forcing me to look for a side gig to my side gig.
I love being independent and am schooling myself on P&C insurance licensing and field appraisals.
All are synchronistic and provide referral opportunities. For tbose “oldies” complaining about “newbie” (i e been at signing business since since 3/20), not sure where I fit in, but loan signings is no longer a fulltime job as it was the last 2 years. RON, Attorneys, RE agents etc, all at it, though I do get a lot of “fix it” business from
RE agents screwing up docs thinking they are signing agents…
Which state are you located in?
Rhode Island and Masschusetts
Independent=Freedom
You are reinventing yourself:) Love it!
Recently I’ve encountered independent business owners doing home inspection, land survey, and appraisal. I think these are great side gigs!
I would love to mentor a newbie. New economy withstanding, mentorship is a wonderful thing. I don’t see anyone being responsible for someone losing their home since we all are responsible for our own decisions. Helping others succeed also helps the mentor. You don’t go wrong helping others.
“Success bombing is the term coined for the need someone has to show off about their success".
We can’t verify to anyone’s success beyond what they say. We don’t know if the ones bragging are real persons as BOTS can be set to handle the bragging. If the braggers are real we don’t know if they’re not being compensated to broadcast their ‘success’. Caveat Emptor.
I didn’t take what he shared in that way “Success bombing” I believe @borunda06jason was just trying to share “his” way of doing business. I love it when people share their successes and lack thereof it makes them and this business real and can motivate me
I should have been more precise. My comment wasn’t directed at @borunda06jason. It was meant to describe the marketing tactics used by the professors at 6-Figure University. My apologies for any misunderstanding.
We have a new LSA trainer in my area pitching how money can be made as an NSA. I’ve had a couple of LSAs contacting me to see if I wanted to buy their printers, PCs, scanners, and assorted offices supplies. They were getting out of the business.
What area are you located? I may be in need of some additional equipment.
Central Texas. San Antonio/Austin. I picked up a Brother 6200 with the second tray and an Epsom 500 scanner. Both barely used. If I get new inquires I’ll send you a PM.
I agree about caveat emptor, be knowledgeable about your future or current business endeavors.
However, I would never dismiss or discourage someone from sharing wins, whether their 1st signing or very high income. The industry isn’t all doom and gloom despite the market slowdown in refis and purchases.
I’ve also seen a few post of NSA’s selling their equipment and getting out of the business.
It truly is a tough business unless you know how to run it right. If you got into it thinking that you are going to make $10k a month the second you get out of training and paying $1,000’s of dollars then you were sold snake oil… like many have said this is a cross country race not a sprint. My heart goes out to those that bought into this to now realize they don’t have the skills or desire to make it work.
I love being an LSA… I should have done it years ago.
If it wasn’t for my Google my business account, I would just be sitting waiting for something to happen. I got in this business to support my fees and licenses while I work Real Estate again after being away for 4 years. Luckily, I closed my walk-in brick mortar office and now working from my spare room. I don’t have many expenses now except supplies for the business and I get my small social security check.
I am using this downtime to brush up on my sales skills and doing my taxes. However, I feel very bad that a signing client contacted me last year to find out how to become a NSA. I didn’t realize she quit her job and decided to put 100% of her energy into the business. She was a dental assistant and they could no longer pay her the kind of income she was making. She contacted me when she was ready to get started and I invited her into my home office to get a picture of what it was like behind the scene. She is so thankful for my help. But now, she is not getting any business.
I encouraged her to have a business card printed saying she is fluent in Spanish and to start hitting the loan offices, Title companies, Open houses, Retirement homes and Attorneys. This is a people business. You’re just going to have to pound the pavement.
I have been getting calls from private parties to notarize documents within my area. To me, it’s bread and butter. I’m so grateful that I advertise on Google my business for free. It’s not enough to replace what I was making last year but as my husband would say. “It beats a stick in the eye”.
Congratulations! The way things are I think it’s harder to get equipments! I already have 3 brother printers plus 1 HP but if somebody wants to get rid of theirs I’d probably get another one!
In my opinion, Mark Wills is no better than a used car pitchman that you used to see on TV all the time.
Ouch, no love for Mark Wills, lol. I am grateful I took his course, otherwise I’d still be managing restaurants and not seeing my kids as much.
“But Wait There’s More”.
“Become a Notary Signing Agent for only 5 easy payments…”.
“Secrets they don’t want you to know about the Notary Business”. This one might actually sell.
