Has or Does anyone use Thumbtack to get signings? If so, what is your opinion on them? I’m about to sign up, but the last page said they want to do a background check and started asking for some more personal information. I can’t just upload my background that the NNA did.
Don’t remember why, but did sign up a few years ago (no BGC then), Process might be different now, but back then, all communication went thru them and, while I did get a very few inquiries, I could never get the info I needed in order to give a rational quote. After 3 or 4 such frustrating experiences, I opted out. No regrets.
When I signed up they state they charge per lead it’s different charges depending on locations but so far when I’ve been notified of General Notary leads they want to charge $10-$15 in my area so I’m on the fence about it too . Yelp has been great for me so far . They also entice you into paying per lead but I have read some reviews on that and decided not to . The Nextdoor app has been great to let my neighbors know I’m doing Notary Work and they have a paying section as well , but I just talk to neighbors to let them know I’m available. At this time I have no budget for paying for advertising. Please let us know how it goes with Thumbtack if you decide it’s for you , maybe reach out to some of the notaries in your area that are on Thumbtack & ask if they would recommend it. There’s plenty of work for everyone so hopefully they share their experiences with you .!
Looked into Thumbtack, and found out that not only the people looking for business weren’t impressed, the customers who were looking for services weren’t impressed as well. So, I’ve decided to nix that company. Thank you for the advice on Nextdoor, as I actually use that app. I think I’ll go the old fashion way for now, until I can start seeing results and feel more confident, by using social media, and by word of mouth. I am going to get business cards and start marketing myself to the various businesses around my neighborhood, that I know will need to use a notary public- attorneys, small escrow companies, and the sorts. Thank you for your advice, by the way.
They charged per lead… cant figure them out … I do not even open their mail…
I’ve had a good experience with Thumbtack so far. Yes, they charge per lead, but you really have to narrow your advertisement. It’s more helpful with my wedding officiant leads which are $11-15. Signings are possible, but rare. It’s also depending on the your zip code as to how much work you get. More than anything, the networking through Thumbtack has been most helpful. I should also say that I’m new at this and I welcome all experience - Lol.
Good morning, Vandernotary!
I am wondering about Thumbtack. I just started to receive all of a sudden the e-mail from them, but can’t respond to anybody because i have not paid Thumbtack. What would you recommend to pay? They seem not cheap to start. I live in Houston. I see they posted Opportunities for Wedding Officiants, but how real is this? I am completely new Notary, so I am trying to find the way to make money, because as of right now I am only spending $ :-} Did you have a good amount of jobs through Thumbtack? What is the best pay option to start with?
