Townsgate not paying trip print fee

Hi all, anyone have trouble getting erroneous files from title paid when the package and trip is completed? I have two now and they verbally said they would pay. 5 emails and 6 weeks later and the sound of crickets. Both were for PennyMac. I saved them trouble on both files, one married listed “unmarried” and the other documented with an 8 year old former name. You’d think they would be grateful. Townsgate did pay one trip fee before, $35 and I traveled 30 minutes each way with a 200 page file. Shameful.

They pay well on competed files. .

Send ‘em an invoice. They will pay on those, if kinda slow.

Bobby, I would if I could. Cannot use the original order number as they need to “assign” a new number for the print and trip fee. And now I have three and they are ignoring my request not responding to emails. I think they are purposely not paying trip / print fees if the loan doesn’t close.

Is this a signing service or a title company?

I just send them an invoice I generate (and edit to taste) out of Notary Gadget. It has always worked for me.

I’ve never heard of Townsgate but any company that will not pay within the acceptable range of 30-45 days, I send them and invoice first, give them 48 hours to respond, then i start searching for their information like their website, etc. I had one company that ignored me, I went to their webpage and filled out a question form and proceeded with my grievance. I stated that if I did not hear from them within 3 business days from that point that I would need to let the notary community know of my experience with them as well as leave a review of their company with the BBB… and hour later the company president called himeself and apologized, he promised to get me paid within 2 hours and did. You have to be tancious and sometimes agressive.

Townsgate is the same as Mortgage Connect. They have an online invoicing system. But if you aren’t authorized to invoice something you won’t get paid.

You have to call and speak to vendor management to get a trip fee approved.

That some crappy practice they have. Attempting to skate off and not pay, they should have the minimum fee by default. I drive 45 min each way and print and give my time there better be some kind of compensation and I shouldn’t have to be a bother for it. Things like this make me feel we need to start a union.

They like many companies do things their way not your way. If you had a cancel you should have called and spoken directly to someone. The confirmation has a closing contact listed. The last time I had a cancel at the table it was 65 miles away. Name wrong. Had to be re- drawn. Called and asked for 50%. To get paid in their system you need to receive a confirmation that can be invoiced. When I received it it was for the 50% I requested. Then she sent another confirmation for an addition $35 for distance telling me 50% wasn’t enough. I ended up receiving the total fee and returned the next day and got paid again.

Notaries can’t send random invoices or demand emails to this service and think they are going to get paid. Maybe the bad practice is not making the effort to get someone in the phone to get resolution.

I just don’t go along with the theory we are the only party the needs to be accommodated. Sorry.

When you cancel from the table, they know that you should be paid because you were on the phone with them no? I never leave without calling, has nothing to do with being accomadated. if you talked to them at the table, THEY KNOW they can’t go about their business and leave you hanging. It’s automatically known you made the trip and printed if you tell them you are with the signer. Sure we may need to contact them to up the base for a specific reason but it should NEVER be made difficultand they should never put anyone through what they put this person through. That’s intentional neglegance on their part. Now if this was before the time and nothing was printed that would be different, you just take the loss and keep moving. And it’s not about my way, it’s the right way. He said he had talked to them and they agreed to pay. Gotta stick with the facts of the situation.

You can’t not stat a union. Some don’t understand

Then he should invoice from the original confirmation. On the Townsgate system. Which pays within two weeks.

Why couldn’t we? Is there some law that says we can’t?

You need 30% of notaries to vote yes to form a union. But there are rules about fee fixing in states so NRLA is where you’d go to discuss.

To have a union all of us would have to work for some company. We are independent contractors.

Actually, that’s not much of a hurdle. I don’t know the logistics and I’m not much of a coordinator, but if rideshare drivers can form unions as independent contractors so could we. This is just an idea I threw out into the world it’s not anything serious. But it would solve a good bit of our problems if we could all gather together and have a strong voice, it would stop companies from playing with us.

That’s true but checking out companies before doing business with them, is how you keep from not getting paid.

I was thinking the same thing. It’s kind of a pain to have to send an invoice for a trip fee, but you do what you have to do.
