Weird Request for notary services

I received an email saying she found my name on ZigSig notaries. And she wanted to know how much it would cost to get some random docs signed. We emailed back and forth and she said she would send me the docs to look them over her email name was.. Chary Saroue. I googled that name and it was this… “Chary Saroue is a specific AI voice model or user profile featured on the Best AI Text To Speech & Free Voice Cloning | Fish Audio platform.”

Look out for scams from AI now people.. I was never sent anything after that. Sheesh

Thanks for the heads up! I’ve been getting the Zoom Notary scams where the “client” emails and basically tries to force the notary to speak with them via Zoom. After being knee deep in a different scam where I gave the “client” my home address to send me a check for other document services, not notary, I’ve learned to raise an eyebrow with every email request for service. It’s to the point where I DuckDuckGo each person’s name in the email before responding.

As to the Zoom scam, it was immediately thwarted because (thanks to that attempted check scam) I now require phone consultations before, continued communications via email, text, and appearing on video or before starting any service. The fact that this potential “client” didn’t want to speak by phone but did want to see me via Zoom was a red flag (regardless if I created the Zoom link or them.)

Also, I wouldn’t let them send me a Zoom link. Instead, I would use my Electronic Notary Signing account and have them go through the whole spiel of ID verification. And, the fee to use the ID verification service would roll over to them. And if, by chance, they pass the ID verification, my video background will be blurred.

One thing about these scammers is they actually keep us on our toes. It makes us more efficient at our jobs by coming up with solutions to nip future scam attempts in the bud. Notary Cafe is also a major help in identifying notary scams.

P.S.: I will be reinstating my virtual mailbox subscription so that I never have to give my address out to a “client” again.
