Where to start in the beginning. .

I am a newbie (6 signings so far). I have registered with NotaryGo (going to pass on them I discovered quite quickly), Snapdocs, NNA, Signature Closers, Signing Order, Notary Rotary and most recently Xome which rejected my application for lack of experience. Who else gives Newbies a shot?.

As far as negotiating a fee, I see a lot of posts here and on Notary Rotary about fees being low balled and not doing a, b or c for less than $$. I don’t feel confident enough to do this since my feet aren’t even wet yet, so to speak. I feel if I start demanding more money, will they will just move on to the next? Just received a request for $65 for an hour and a half drive one way (confident turning that down) but is being to picky leaving my calendar empty?

Is there a way to find out more about the signing before I tell them I’m available? For instance, scan/fax backs, etc.?

Thanks for any input and guidance.

I am a newbie as well, but just want to throw out there that I personally am going to not take less than $75, unless it’s about 10 minutes away from my home. I see all the talk about the low ball fees and apparently some LSA’s are taking them. I’m going to be full time so for me, low balls are not going to get me closer to bigger goals. :pensive:

$100 minimum. If you don’t value your own time, nobody else ever will. Yes, I understand you’re new, BUT this isn’t rocket science either. Repeating, repeating, repeating…once you’ve PUT YOURSELF in the bargain bin with a good co., you won’t get out and can blow thru a LOT of good-paying companies just trying to…gain experience, get a signing, whatever your excuse is…don’t do it. Stop being prey for the lowballers; become the hunter of good companies, fees.

First off, for me, I would refer them to someone in that zip code - I have no problem turning down something that far from me; but if I were to take it - 3 hours travel plus table time plus printing, confirmation, scanbacks..etc etc easy 5-6 hours? $250-$300 - and no you probably won’t get the job for that but if you do it for $65 you’re paying THEM to work.

Gas here just jumped 6 cents/gal overnight…I agree with Arichter…minimum $100 - that’s your base then do value add-ons from there. JMO

Congrats,

Do you mind saying who you negotiated that rate with?

Hi! NotaryGo (ugh, I know! :upside_down_face:), and the lender is AVE365 Lending.

Ask questions!!! Ask before accepting.

Do you have documents yet? Can you provide the docs by specific time? Is this a standard refi of 135 pages or less? Are scanbacks required? Can you tell me the address? Etc.

A new question I’m asking is, Can you provide docs the evening prior to signing date? (Why am I asking? With multiple signings to complete during a day there isn’t much time to go back home between appointments to print.)

In addition to questions sometimes a condition needs to be stated. As an example:strong text I do many long distance signings because of the rural area that I’m in. I do signings that involve 6 hours of driving time, round trip, plus table time etc. I state upfront that I require payment of my full fee regardless of signers decision to sign/not sign, and regardless of the loan funding/not funding. This condition needs to be agreed to and stated in their confirmation or an email.

Yes, I charge for the mileage and for my time to make the trip. May I suggest, as a starting point, that you determine how many other jobs you could complete during the drive time.

If you could complete 3 other jobs during the drive time at $125 each the charge for the trip = $375 plus $125 for the table time, printing, etc.

Finally, as I’m typing this I realized not all jobs are solicited by a phone call. If the request is received by email or text, rather that asking questions I state the conditions ($125 up to 135 pgs, no scans, etc).

Take what you like from my comments and leave the rest.

Respectfully

What Signing Company was this?

NotaryGo. I have been asking for more from them since I’ve gotten the above advice.

Thanks. Normally when people askvfor more, they move on to someone cheaper, but good for you
