While it appears to be ok to intentionally affix your notary stamp in a vertical position, has anyone else run across this? Had a recent signing where the notarial cert contained a vertical column where Title wanted the notary stamp affixed within the column. This meant having to apply my stamp vertically to fit properly within the parameters of that column. Just curious if anyone else has encountered this.
The clerks that authenticate need the name, county, and expiration date clear. Upside down is okay but remember future generations viewing your work will laugh.
Actually, it wasn’t upside down but affixed in a vertical position. I think it’ll be clear to whomever is viewing the stamp as the column was positioned in a way where the stamp could not be affixed otherwise. The alternative would have been to apply my notary stamp outside of the boundaries of the form or attaching a loose certificate, however, it seemed to be most appropriate to affix the stamp in the manner in which their form was designed. It was apparent that the author of the form didn’t think about the best approach for the notary. Thanks again for responding.
Whenever I try to use the vertical position, I get ink all over my pants and throw my back out.
(You knew this was coming, huh?
)
Nothing wrong with vertical in my opinion. You can’t go over lines or into margins so if that means it has to be vertical I guess that’s how it will be.
As for upside down being fine, I’ve had a notarization rejected for being upside down. So I never suggest to anyone it’s a-okay.
I also have 3 different stamp sizes. The smallest is VERY small. Fit’s lots of places no other stamp will fit. There’s a stamp company that does make tiny round stamps. My small one is a rectangle though.
I read somewhere here that one state doesn’t allow for anything other than round. But you can get round very small. I think it’s notarystamp dot com I’m not ordering as many as I used to because I finally learned how to ink my stamps.
Thanks I needed that.
