Hello fellow signing agents! I am preparing for my second refinance with Amrock and encountered a slightly different signature/name affidavit than I had with my first. There is a line directly under the notary signature line that says “Notary Public for __________”. I’m a newbie to the signing agent world, so I’m hoping someone on here can explain exactly what I am supposed to fill in there. I tried calling Amrock but their offices aren’t open (just received the docs this afternoon through a third party signing service), and the signing is tomorrow morning.
Any and all help is appreciated, thank you!

Just print nice and need the following:
Two examples:
Formal:
Notary Public for the state of Maine for example.
Or informal:
Notary Public for Maine for example
Basically all you need to do is put in the name of your state.
If you see a phrase such as, “subscribed and sworn to before me” or affirm or something like that. You must administer an oral oath first then you sign and seal
A lot of notaries do not administer an oath. They just sign and seal.

Typically if you belong to the National notary association, then you are able to call them to receive help! Your membership covers answering your questions, and they are available Monday-Saturday. I hope this helps! Keep up the good work! You got this!!!

I can’t believe I didn’t think of calling the NNA! Thank you for that tip, I completely forgot that I can use them as a resource. Have a wonderful weekend!

No worries! The pleasure was all mine
I disagree with this - notaries, whether private or corporate, are all under the auspices of their respective states…some have to record their commissions with the county in which they work. This really has nothing to do with corporate only and I would not leave it blank - I would either insert “Notary Public in and for “name of state” or name of County” - or maybe both - Notary Public in and for the County of ** state of ** . Do not leave blank of list “N/A”.

I agree with you. I also put my county and state there.
That’s for the heading of the certificate - this thread is referring to the wording under the notary’s signature line - many templates show up like this:
*signature of Notary
Printed Name
Notary Public in and for ______________
Commission No. _____________________
Commission expiration Date: _________________
Again, this is under the notary signature line. When that shows up I print in “State of Florida” as my commission is state-wide

“Notary Requirements”
“Notaries are required by law to administer oral oaths or affirmations when performing jurats or verifications on an oath or affirmation. When the certificate says it has been “signed and sworn to,” or words to that effect, the Notary is required to administer an oral oath or affirmation.
No exact language is prescribed for the oath or affirmation, so I ask this question of the document signer: “Do you solemnly swear or affirm, subject to the law of perjury, that the information contained in this document is true and correct?” The signer should answer orally, “Yes.”
In addition, almost all states have laws that make it “official misconduct” (or something comparably titled) for public officials, including Notaries, to fail to carry out their official duties — and that could include a willful or negligent failure to administer a required oral oath or affirmation.”

How do I get in with Amrock in my area? (Central Texas and Texas hill country)
I have done 1000’s of closings back in 1980’s-1997, I owned a mortgage brokerage company, then left the field for a career as an Air Traffic Controller for the FAA. Since air traffic controllers are forced to retire at age 56 I’m now back in the field.
I had to relinquish my notary from the 80’s because I found out an x-co-worker was using my notary while waiting on his to get approved, so my new number makes me look like a newbie!
It seems the only requests I am receiving are texts from Snapdocs and BlackInk and are low paying as a rule ($40 refi with scanbacks)
Thanks all

Thank you, give them a call at 888-784-2523 and ask to speak to partner management. I do know they’re only recruting in 11 states and Texas is not one of them. I spoke to them 2 days ago.
VIP - did you mean this for another thread? I ask because your response has absolutely nothing to do with the question at hand - which is how to fill in the info “under” the signature line.
Just curious as this post puzzles me. To be clear I’m referring to the link to NNA article about carrying out one’s duties.

Actually, yes, because the article is referring to affidavit. “When the certificate says it has been “signed and sworn to,” or words to that effect, the Notary is required to administer an oral oath or affirmation”

Yep…and the question is about the wording under the notary signature line - not the body of the cert.
Maybe I’m missing something.
Oh that was intended as a reminder for the original poster to not short cut her job as a notary.
