April Commission Renewal

I realized it’s going to be difficult to remember everywhere I have a profile when it’s time to upload all the new stuff in April.

I expect I may thin the herd a little bit. I had forgotten until someone mentioned them that I was even on notarygo.com. And I’ve never gotten a job from them. That I remember anyway.

I used to be so diligent about recording all the sites. I guess April is the chance to do the list all over again.

Here’s a dumb question what’s the difference between a bond and an E & O Policy. We buy both because they say you need both but I don’t really understand that. They sort of overlap seems like.

A Bond protects the customer; we need to renew our $10K notary bond with the state every 4 years to renew our notary commission. Insurance policies (E&Os) protect the notary public or notary signing agent.

When I paid for my commission when I first got it I bought the bond from the state. When I went to renew the site said enter your bond info to proceed with renewal payment. But no link to a new bond policy. What a pain in the butt. So now I have to call and sit on hold AGAIN to get a new bond. I already have the E & O invoice for the upgraded coverage I am getting. Just have to go online and pay that.

Oh wait I’ll buy the bond at the NNA site. It’s half the price as through the agency.

No, you didn’t buy your notary bond from the state, you are mistaken. Washington state is not in the business of selling bonds or insurance policies. You bought your $10k original notary bond from an insurance company and then uploaded the bond with your original Washington notary application as all Washington notaries do.

The difference in Signing Agent E&O and Notary Public E&O are huge, so that could be the dramatic price difference you are seeing.

p.s. NNA offers notary public E&O but NOT Notary Signing Agent E&O.

Well when I went on the state site in 2021 there was a link. This time I went to my policy and they don’t renew a bond policy they issue a new one. But from the company it’s $100. From the NNA site it’s $50. The E & O I called the underwriters at the issuers office and upped it to 100K which raised the price a lot. But I think for some agencies it raises your score and gets you some preference so I think it’s going to be worth the extra money. I expect the bond policy through NNA might be a different company but that’s okay.

Bless you! Good thoughts going out to you! I had health issues and let many things lapse in January. Oh my! Good luck with your renewals! (Wish there was a one button switch at least for the main ones)
