STEP 1: There’s a paradigm shift that needs to occur when one charts their course to become a Business Owner by moving away from being an employee. If you’re CERTAIN that you’re ready & have got what it takes to chart your own course and be an independent contractor & business owner, then please read the following Steps.

STEP 2: One of the initial steps to take would be to research your region to determine the viability of and the need for the services one intends to provide via the business they desire to launch.

There is a Tab on the Navigation Ribbon at the top of this page that is titled “Find A Notary.”

You will serve yourself well (and tangentially will probably answer the query you posed above) by researching the region you’re hoping to serve. More than likely, you’ll discover (like so many others before you have done) that your region is already saturated with experienced, highly skilled, and professional signing agents/notaries public.

STEP 3: You’ll benefit greatly by digging in the gold mine immediately available to you. The gold mine is found within the Search function, also on the Navigation Ribbon at the top of this page => see image below to locate the Magnifying Glass. By utilizing the Search function, you’ll gather sagacious information and answers to many questions as well as learn vicariously (instead of making all the mistakes & missteps the others have made that traveled the same path before you traveled it).

STEP 4: This business is NOT a “If You Build It, They Will Come” type of enterprise . . . It requires dedication, research, professionalism, intense detail-oriented demeanor, regular & repeated marketing activities & expenditures, relationship building, and the ability to read a situation to determine the optimum course of action.

Great company name. You should marry people. Sign up to be an officiant online and advertise. I did that successfully for a while when the bottom dropped out of the loan signing market in 2008. People will pay hundreds of dollars, and you can notarize the marriage certificates for even more money. I’m an award-winning photographer so I would include my photo skills for even more extra cash. Best part is you are an honored guest at the reception.

To get your 1st client, you have to decide on the market that you want to target.

I suggest general notary work, providing your service to the general public. Notarizing affidavits, school forms , retirement forms, minor travel consent forms, ect.

You can market by making flyers and business cards to leave at places that have bullentine boards for the public, go to your local library, your state representative and gas stations to leave marketing material.

If you have previous experience in the real estate or legal field, you should sign up for at least 5 title & signing companies a week, preferably title companies. You can also visit law offices to offer mobile notary service because more than likely they already have in house paralegal that are also commissioned.

I am a paralegal and also a notary public, so I targeted title co and law offices. It was not easy, marketing is a full-time job.

1. You Replied to the Signing Order [SO] offer
2. The hiring business entity advised you (after you had Replied to the Signing Order offer) that you Received the SO and it was assigned to you on your Dashboard with that business entity

Please know that “Accepting” the fee offered for the SO, places your Acceptance into the grouping of additional Professional Signing Agents [PSAs] who have “Accepted” the proposed SO fee.

The hiring entity will then make a determination of whom they will “Assign” the SO for completion.

At that point in time you’ll received a text, email, phone call, etc. to confirm (usually within a few minutes) of initially “Accepting” the offer of the SO.

If, on the other hand, you DON’T receive a text, email, phone call, etc. to confirm the SO has been placed with you, then someone else got it.

@queen7mobilenotary – Long story, short, You may have been certified for RON. However, it is now up to YOU to market your services to whomever you’re interested in working with.

Easy comparison: College graduate with Master’s Degree still has to apply for jobs. Let 'em know you’re interested in them. Don’t just sit there waiting for phone to start ringing off the hook just because you have a certification. Even big companies market to their customers. Think of all the ads you see on TV. No need to go to that expense but you can contact your target customers in person, email, phone, flyers, etc.
