Beware of late to no payments from Successful Signings

Successful signings has been extremely slow to not paying. I had appointments from Jan. March, April, and May that had not been paid and it’s now August. I had sent multiple emails, put messages on the orders, and made phone calls. There was either a response that accounting would be notified and cc’d on the order and/or for me to contact accounting. But still no payments sent or additional responses. I got behind on the follow ups and took another appointment from them this month (Aug) forgetting that they had not paid me.

I sent a response saying actually I just realized I haven’t been paid from you all and to please remove me if I’m not going to be paid as this will be another job I complete that won’t be paid for. The response from Sequoia was Chanelle handles that and I was given her email address. Chanelle responded and cc’d accounting of my inquiry which I thought was great. I completed the appointment thinking I’m good and then days later no response from accounting. I sent another email as a follow up and nothing.

Well there ended up being a correction needed on the most recent (Aug) order I had done so I was contacted by Sequoia from the order but still no response from accounting. At this point I had upheld all of my obligations for Jan., March, April, May and now Aug. so I gave a reply that immediately warranted a response from accounting and Chanelle that resulted in them paying me that day (although they missed Jan. still) and they even paid me for the most recent order even though they hadn’t been paid for it by title just so I’d follow up on their request for this current order.

Accounting was pretty bothered by my stance and gave excuses that they are a small business that grew too fast and they have hundreds of emails they have to go through and nothing is automated. These are all personal problems. Excuses are unacceptable as we have completed the work and need payments to further our business, lives, and needs and it’s now been months.

I will no longer accept signings from them as I shouldn’t have to work this hard to receive payments. All business is not good business. So beware of Successful Signings. I’m now trying to recoup January’s payment smh. I saw the forum for demand letters and that will be next. They don’t have the title company listed for that order unfortunately..that should be mandatory for orders.

@k.bryant Oh my goodness . . . that’s a LOT of Non-Payment for invoices!

Sorry to read about your Non-Payment experience with this business entity.

I am also late for a payment and after being referred to accounting and completing their process for their payment service, “relay” am now expecting (hoping) to be paid within the week.

I always give a signing company a chance and make notes in my spreadsheet regarding payment status, how easy they were to work with, etc.

Successfull signings has ALOT of requirements that most companies do not so to add slow pay to that puts them on my list of companies to avoid in the future.

I also included the escrow officer on my initial polite email inquiring as to when I could expect payment. Naturally, Sequoia did not like that I did that. But that practicular signing was for Fidelity National Title and I’m sure they would appreciate knowing what is happening.

Update: I did receive payment finally but had to send two more emails before it happened. I won’t recommend them or work for them in the future.

@k.bryant - if that Jan. signing was for real estate, and you still have the docs pdf, check the Closing Disclosure or Alta Settlement Statement for title/escrow company. CD will also list the lender.

Good luck and let us know how things progress!

I am so sorry you are going through this! These Crooked people have no idea what it is like for us!!! WE accept these assignments in blind faith that they will do the right thing and not abscond with our money. I just recently accepted and completed an order with Successful Signings and after reading all of these reviews I was quick to let her know, I do fly around the Country collecting my payments and to please not make me have to book a flight to come get my money!!!

I am following up on this to say that they did finally pay me and they also paid me more due to the troubles with things and/or because I said that I would make other notaries aware of late payments and the tough time it takes to finally receive it. I personally would want to know and then it’s up to me/other notaries to decided if they want to work with them.

I’m thankful that it was all finally recouped but we definitely should not have to work that hard to receive payment for a job we have completed successfully. As @tammyrhyde said we are accepting these appointments in blind faith as they are sending to us in blind faith as well and all parties should be doing the right thing!

Hopefully this has made them be better about paying others. As for me I have moved on from them at this point. Best wishes!

I chuckled at this one. I’m thinking after that you will get your money on time!!

This is my second time doing a signing for Successful Signings, and I have experienced the same thing! I just finished sending them my invoice for the FOURTH time. I use Square Invoices, and I see that each time I send an invoice, they view it but choose not to pay.

I just got that same email saying accounting will be CC’d, and I will be paid. This is the last time I will do a signing for them!

It’s really sad that they are being this way. They need a cease and desist order at this point. I see them popping up from time to time and I have to remind myself to not take their orders.

I did one assignment when Chanelle was starting out. Didn’t have an issue with payment, but I’ve learned over the years that there are too many signing services and many of them go under or get in trouble. Know your worth, demand NORMAL FEES with a NET 24 HRS. Or better yet, go direct.

Did they make you use Relay and import your account information?

Did you sign up for their Relay payment or was a check?
