I just received this request via email and BLOCKED it!! SCAM
My Notary friends,
I know of no State/Local tax documents that require a notarized signature. The IRS does not require any tax documents to carry a notarized signature.
All for now,
Your friendly Tax Preparer
Okay… so I received a similar email on Tuesday and after three email exchanges, I was asked for a Zoom as well. I thought it was suspect. I agreed but said that I would send over a google meet link and gave my availability. I didn’t get a response.

Hello Lakeisha
Thank you for your response, I think we can talk over a zoom meeting before we fix a suitable time and date that works for us both.
Let me know what you think and I will be waiting to hear from you.

I offered to send an invitation using my links and at a time other than he could me. No response. Oh, well.
This is definitely a Scam. I received this type of request through text messaging. I asked them to call me, instead of Zoom. They said they would call and I have not heard from them. The phone number went straight to voicemail. Please be safe out there and always ask questions.
Oh my goodness Cheryl!! I received this also just this week. Zoom meeting was mandatory and a phone call wasn’t an option. I asked why would a zoom meeting be necessary & she couldn’t answer that question.
Even more strange was that the zoom meeting link that was sent by her doesn’t work from a mobile device, only android laptops!?!?
Very strange. Also, I’ve never know tax documents needing to be notarized!?!
Very odd.
I had a similar email to do a Zoom first for a tax filing requirement, and after some texts back forth, and based on my responses plus the sender’s super fast responses , I concluded that it MUST an AI training email. My gut and my brain told me so, and this forum confirms my suspicion that this was some type of non-legit request!
The NNA published an article about the zoom request scan for notaries. It’s an effort to create false biometric profiles to pretend to be notaries by fraudsters.
