I just received this. it seems requesting zoom meeting is the current scam? or am I wrong… Here is the email; (If this is not a scam, what is a normal consultation fee estimate?)
Hello,
Yes, we are requesting an in-person notarization.
Before proceeding with the signing, we would appreciate a brief Zoom consultation involving my wife and me to review the documents and ensure we understand the notarization process and requirements. My wife is currently out of town but will return in approximately two days.
I can send a Zoom meeting invitation at a mutually convenient time. If you are available today, I am available now and would be happy to meet. Otherwise, please let us know a time that works best for you.
We look forward to speaking with you and scheduling the signing appointment.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
Best regards,
It’s been discussed quite recently. Yes, it’s a scam. Believe if you click ‘something’ during the zoom meeting they initiated, it downloads bad stuff.

Wow…crawling out of the woodwork, aren’t they???
MY response to this would be -
"No Zoom meeting is required as, by law, I am not authorized to review documents but I can explain the notarization process.
For in-person notarization - both parties must appear before me and have current, valid photo ID." Then proceed to add whatever other requirements your state notary process has…and maybe list the acceptable forms of ID for your state.
I would love to know what these people are thinking and hoping to gain sending these emails out. Good Luck, Cheryl
That is pretty much how I handled it… thank you
My advice. . . when you get these requests - DUMP 'EM!!!

C’mon, kids, nobody does that. Did you EVER hear of such a thing in your training or studying for your commission? No, of course not. Who’s Zoomin’ Who? (Aretha Franklin 1985, give it a listen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYmmFf6M40Y)
