I have been getting emails from gentlemen asking me if I could notarize tax documents for them. I tell them that I would be more than happy to help them. They all email me back wanting to have a zoom meeting with me before we meet. I do not agree with them because I do not see the need in doing this. Has anyone else had this issue? I just find it very strange
Those are scam emails.

There are, to my knowledge, NO tax forms that require notarization. The Zoom meeting should give it aways that the request is not normal. When was the last time anyone was asked to do a Zoom meeting before, during or after a signing? And for what purpose? When more than one email is received for the same kind of signing, BEWARE. Of course it’s a scam.

They want to steal your biometrics to pretend to be you. I’ve never heard of tax documents that require notarization. The last newsletter from the NNA went into this scam in detail.

The same exact thing happened to me and he wanted to do a Zoom meeting. I thought it was possibly legit so when I tried to do the zoom meeting, it didn’t work and I was kind of glad because I kept trying and something didn’t seem quite right he also sent a picture. He was an older guy, but I really think it probably wasn’t him.
I received the same request last week, and one prior to that, but not about taxes. I have a scheduling calendar, and provide my own meeting link if needed. They wanted to do a face to face which I didn’t take issue with, what was alarming to me was they sent me a zoom link when I had already provided a meeting link. They said the link didn’t work, which I knew was nonsense because I had just gotten off of another business meeting, and use this method of conferencing all the time, I ignored them after. I was annoyed that they really blocked out time in my schedule. Glad I know now its a scam, these kinds of inquirys.
I don’t respond to anything but “normal” type notary or signing agent requests. Any unusual requests are off the table for me, as there are far too many scammers and thieves out there who are out to rip you off any way that they can.
You can find my business via google, we have a website, I get business via this avenue as well, so I so receive calls, emails, and text messages with notary request, not just from vendor platforms.
