Yes sir. I have the ix500. I believe it has now been replaced by a newer version. It has been a true workhorse for me. I have had it for 8-10 years. In addition to my notary jobs, I have scanned a 4-drawer lateral business size file cabinet jam packed full of documents. All of this without requiring any maintenance. I highly recommend it. It is head and shoulders above the all in one printer scanners.
Thanks very much. I use a Brother MFC 9370 CW currently as my dedicated machine for my notary business. Itās been flawless but itās 10 years old and at some point will need to be replaced.
In Arizona (check your state), there is no time limit re: storage of documents. They must be encrypted if kept electronically, or they must be under lock and key if paper. I have both an encrypted thumb drive and encrypted file on my computer for all my docs no matter what they are for. I also have a portable scanner. This way I have the package whether there are scan backs or not. Push comes to shove VERY last resort, I have an app on my phone so I can at least do scans this way. They wonāt work for title, but at least I have them.
Then there are other laws that are separate from notary that have to be followed. The law may dictate longer retention time. HOA, Company policy, IRS are just a few.
All of this is no different from when I worked in an office and needed to keep confidential documents.
I would tell them no and with the proof you gave them itās not your problem. You have to learn to hold your ground. The biggest thing you have to learn is tht you are NOT their employee, you do not have to take their nonsense.
The arguement for later can leave you screwed though. I never let them take advantage of me like that if the fault isnāt mine. If it is mine Iāll do whatever it takes to make it right on the other hand.
Good for you, it wasnāt your mess to clean up for cheap. Iād never ever back down, you want me to go back for something not my fault, you will pay.
Right, so many on here talk about the high road⦠They way we are treated and paid low ball what makes notaries on here think they will be remembered over another? These arenāt the times where things are like that anymore⦠We are just the ends to their means, nothing more. Unless you have a professional - personal relationship with these companies you are completely replacable and just a number. PS: Just my two scents and not an attack on anyone. Your business, handle things your way.
