E&O Insurance help

I am having a time finding insurance for $100k for less than $300 annually. I’m in NC. Any suggestions?

@cryman.notary The two most popular - that national organization we all know about . . . and BiBerk.

FYI: When my existing policy nears expiration, I’ll be reaching out to BiBerk for coverage quotations.

I don’t know if they are in your area but I have a 4 year 100K policy from Western Surety Co that was $300 for 4 years total.

Please note if you’re conducting signings other than ‘General Notary Work’ a basic E&O policy may not cover you from all liabilities involving Notary Signing Agent duties. NNA for example, uses their own insurance/ bonding company Merchants Surety and Bonding ‘DOES NOT’ cover ‘non notarial acts’. Meaning, anything outside of your notarized document is not protected under E&O. I learned this 15 years into the business (24.5 years in) and was unaware until I confirmed with NNA. They DO NOT DISCLOSE THIS WHEN THEY CERTIFY THE SIGNING AGENTS. That being said, I found a company Hiscox that covers ‘ALL DUTIES’ associated with notary signing agent functions and they are affordable. Insurance Premium Rates are always determined by regions, locations, risk and other factors.

@cryman.notary By any chance did you see this Notary Cafe post for ER Munro (contact data)?

Also, here is the Google AI response . . .

So, when my E&O Coverage renewal approaches, I’ll be Researching two [2] separate quotes!

:star_struck: Thanks :star_struck: for posing your query as it’s been directly helpful to me (and presumably to many other Notary Cafe members as well)!
