E-Signings - which companies are worth registering with?

I recently received a request from a signing company to get registered for upcoming e-signings, that they anticipate will be happening soon.

I was asked to sign up with Pavaso and take a test for certification, that will enable me to handle signings for companies that utilize their e-sign platform.

Has anyone else been asked to do the same and if so, what e-signing companies should mobile notaries look to sign up with, so they can be ready to offer this service?

I want to be as educated and informed as possible in this area to ensure I am selected for what is likely going to be the way forward in many signing situations, so any insight would be gratefully received!

Thanks!

Near as I can figure, it will be a mess–at the very least, for a while. Equity TC has declared that they will only pay $50 for this. And you will still need to print and wet-sign a fairly sizeable package. Plus, of course, have (& pay for & drag around) all the equipment needed. People who have done e-signs say they take longer than a normal paper signing and are fraught with technology issues.

My state has e-notarization and there are no less than 5 STATE-APPROVED ‘platforms’ a notary can use AND pay for (also apparently more can be approved going forward.) These are NOT cheap. Here’s what I don’t understand: Suppose I’ve paid for ABC platform, but hiring party uses XYZ platform–now what? I took the course, got the certification, but in the ‘doing’ of this, decided it was ‘expensive/complex/hinky’ enough that I most likely won’t be doing this. Later they finally say $50…no way to the max!

I am certainly not anywhere near an authority on this topic. Have way more questions and caveats than answers, but know that many ramped up for this in the past and never got an order, so from their experience, I’ve made my decision.

If they are arranging for you to sign up for free, and you have some spare time, you might consider it. I wouln’t buy any equipment or increase the amount of your data plan, because the chances of getting an assignment seem slim.

Three possible disadvantages:

  1. If your state requires platforms be approved, Pavaso might not be approved in your state.
  2. Your state might require that you register as an enotary and pay an extra fee to the state.
  3. If the Pavaso platform were hacked, false notarizations might be issued in your name.

I got Pavaso certified and havent had any hybrid signings yet. Maybe I need to apply to a more specific field?
