I was wondering if anyone knows of a digital fax service for FREE, Or affordable fee for each page faxed Or last resort a minimal monthly fee? Every so often I get a request to Fax a few documents for my notary services. Its unbelievable that anyone even still uses a fax machine, but they are out there. I looked online and found “Faxage” for $3.49 a month. Does anyone know if this is legit? It sounds too good to be true.
Most of those that say FAX, will accept a scan instead. Simply ask them which email address they want it sent to or if it can be uploaded to their platform.
All this, thinking you have a scanner available to you?
Another option: If you’re a member of Notary Rotary, they have a free fax service available to paid members. They assign you a fax (phone) number. What you actually do is scan the document and upload it to their portal and they send if from there under your fax number.
Wonderful. YES I am a member of Notary Rotary. I did not know they have a free fax service. Thank you so much for letting me know. I appreciate it.

In my 12 years doing this work, I have never once “faxed” back anything. It’s always scan and upload. I cannot imagine anyone entering this business without a scanner. Requirements to scan have only gotten heavier over time. It’s very rare now that I get a signing that doesn’t require scanbacks.
When I started in 1998, nothing was online. It wasn’t until 3 years later that escrow started faxing whole loan packages to notaries. Those of us that wanted that business paid as much as $1500 for paper fax machines and enrolled in E-FAX accounts to lower our cost. Of course, we (notaries) were getting paid $200-$400 per signing. I have several powerful fax machines in our offices so I could easily blast out a 200-page fax, but that would freak out a hiring company.
Point of information. Faxes, encrypted scans and encrypted emails are the only secure ways to transmit info at this time. Using a VPN is good also. I have not faxed a doc in years though. Faxes are still used to transmit info safely, as long as the end user has restricted access to the product!
In the past I received and sent many loan documents by fax. When did that change?
