Mobile scanner is only a secure as the server you connect to so you can enhance the security protocol on your phone and I’ve never had anyone have a problem with mobile Adobe. The important thing is to just check with your hiring company.
Bravo. You are truly an advocate for YOUR business. Random, arbitrary, and undefined fee assessments are coercion techniques to get your cooperation. Communication is King and letting the hiring company know what you are capable, or willing to do, is good business for both. In my opinion, a minimum two hour turnaround is acceptable, in most cases. However, the “immediately after” demand allows them to control YOUR business calendar. In addition, more and more SS’s have been adding a demand that after scanning back, you hold onto the documents and wait for approval to drop. I allow until end of day, or last pick up time. Driving around with documents in my car is a huge liability, no matter how secure I have made them. If I leave them at my office, and the approval comes while I’m in the field, it imposes on my other appointments. In one case, it was 2 days before I received said approval and when I called to inquire, I was scolded for not calling them sooner!!! I implore all NSA’s to read the SS’s terms of use agreements before agreeing to provide services. They may look professionally prepared and, therefore, contain only legally binding provisions, but that is far from true. The bottom line is, you are a business owner, service provider and should demand to be treated like any other provider in the transaction.
Cfletcher thank you for your professional and helpful response, and for allowing me the grace to add to your post
I would simply not take an assignment which stated that there was a 90 minute deadline in which my fees would be waived if I didn’t make it in time. It puts all the pressure on us, regardless of any circumstances which make it impossible for us to do it in that timeframe. It’s just not worth it for the paltry fees that we get.
When I used to do this sort of thing, anytime they had a certain number of minutes within which they expected me to do something, they always started the clock at the beginning of the appointment, which is absurd. If the signer wants to read everything, the appointment itself could take 90 minutes.
I give a price to scan and a deadline to drop same day ..they pick
For any signing which is scheduled late in the afternoon, I will tell them they have a choice of scanbacks or making that day’s drop…not both.
