Tomorrow is a long day with three in a row in 3 different locations. No scans are required on any of them which is awesome.
When the offer came for the third order, it was a fee lower than I normally take but no scans and 15 minutes from the 2nd order so I took a slightly lower fee.
Sometimes for volume, I’ll take ten bucks less. And if there are no scans and I can drop everything same day - that’s a great day to me.
August has been weird. Some days with 3 or 4 and some days with nothing. Hope it’s been good to you this month.

Yes, it’s wonky, but I have both no scans and the marjority with scans. Rarely do I hit a trifecta like yourself ;0)
Keep up the good work!

I had the reverse. 5 in 5 different locations, all scans required. So thankful to be able to scan at the table.
What do you use to be able to scan at the table?
Yes, no scans is a blessing, especially since there is no difference in pay between jobs with scans or without them. So nice to just drop docs at Fedex on your way home.
I always counter with a 25 scan fee if its not in the original offer. Almost every time I get it. Scans are not free.
Nor should they be free. Scans clearly add to the time to complete an assignment. I like your idea of adding a $25 charge for scans. It signals to the hiring party that time is involved in doing them and time is money.
You do need to review the agreement with whoever hires you - I have one hiring company whose terms state scans are a part of every order and no additional fee is paid. So I just charge them more from the get go.
That’s fine if the fee for the job is sufficient to include scans. How much is sufficient? That’s for the individual notary to decide, but that number is clearly not zero. The ones I have a real problem with are those title companies that want scans on some but not on others…all for the same price. Or…maybe they call you on the phone and you agree to a price for a job. Then, at the end, they add, “Oh, by the way, can you include scans with those?”
What I have started to do if I have a busy day is say scans will be received this evening and docs will ship tomorrow.
For lenders and title I have done a ton of work for they may reply just drop with no scan. Not always but sometimes.
Unfortunately scans have become part of things probably due to higher notary error. But I think it’s also due to reduced manpower and companies trying to get more done with fewer full time employees.
But that’s just an opinion..
Epson DS-320 for the last six years. Just found out it was discontinued, bought one of the last ones as a backup.
