I got in contact with Roe (the agent who gave me the assignement) and she saw to it that I got paid the same day. I don’t know what happened but someone dropped the ball. I just had to keep on top of them.

I have worked with them. Great company and pay right away.

I have worked for them on several signings. The paid me in 15 days.

Why would you say im in the wrong business?

I have worked with them a number of times as I am a newbie. They pay $50 no matter what the request is. they do pay within 3 days though, each and every time. Their requests are usually for smaller jobs. Do not know what they charge the client.

These companies hire local notaries for a small fraction of what they receive from the signers. Signers do a Google search and contact who is at the top of the search results, even when it clearly says “SPONSORED” which means the company is out of state but paid to appear at the top of local search results. If they pay you $50, you better believe they made at least 200 on it. I’m sick of it LOL

I had a signing through them where I was informed of the fee. They charged the client $195 for a single notarization act. They pay more than most signing services for smaller jobs, and I don’t have to print any documents. Of course, I was fuming when I found out what they charged the client because they said they were unable to give me a measly $10 more. I knew these signing services took a nice portion of the money they charged, but 75%. I was honestly more upset that they severely overcharged the client! Good news is I’ve done three more notary acts for that client since then and didn’t charge half of what the signing service charged.

How is this ethical? Or legal? Is it a savvy advertising trick, or are they duping signers?

Me, I think it dupes the signers. So sometimes I fight back by clicking “sponsored” links as many times as possible so the business is forced to pay more for advertising, if they pay per click.

I search “mobile notary”, click a sponsored link at the top of the search results, BACK button, CRTL-F5 (refreshes page), click a sponsored link, BACK button, CRTL-F5 … (and I repeat as necessary until sponsored business no longer appears in my local search results or I get bored or my phone rings) LOL

Yes, Sponsored means they placed a Google ad. And they have dynamic landing pages so of course they come up in searches all over the country.

I got a job from Roe this week! I’m not sure how I feel about this company because I feel as Roe tried to send me to a job for free basically to pocket the money!

She told me I didn’t have to fill out the completion form
But I did it anyway and I’m glad I did because they said without it I wouldn’t be able to get paid! Did the job Saturday it is now Wednesday and still waiting!

If I do a job through this company again I don’t want to deal with Roe! I don’t trust her anymore ! No communication after bringing up the completion form from her I had to go over her head at that point!

I’m not sure how I feel about the company as of now
I would say if you do deal with them do whatever the instructions say and don’t listen to Roe! She will have you ready to sue that company

They are trying to make money off you! Did you get paid without that form ?

Roe is not responsive

It’s a challenge for sure. Many of these “Signing Services Companies” contacting us for loan assignments are literally one-man band operations. Especially for those, I make sure to invoice and include a PAY NOW QRcode/link and I write “due on receipt” and mention fee for late payments. I find it necessary to counter x2, x3, or x4 to make it worth my while. But everyone is different.

99% of the time, the hiring company calling us has absolutely no idea how far we are traveling or what obstacles we have to face to reach their signing location, especially in winter or adverse weather. NONE of that is on their radar when they contact us and make an offer. But I make sure to point it out when I counter with my rate.

That completion form they ask is likely because they accepted a CC payment over the phone for the work you are doing for the signers. That is her “proof” that the work was done, so that signer cannot back out and reverse the cc charges on them. If signing service require me to scan anything back, I include that in my rate and with the scanback, I include my invoice/demand for immediate payment as a separate PDF. Doing this I have always gotten paid fairly quickly by her company.

Thank you for sharing your experience here, by the way. It is really valuable.

I appreciate your nice compliment, Kevin! :grinning: There are several notary signing agents in here I interact with regularly, many of whom were tapped into this forum years before me. I feel indebted to the like-minded notary professionals who have stayed afloat in this topsy-turvy business and still remain active here in Notary Cafe willing to share advice and experiences with others. :raised_hands: :raised_hands: :raised_hands: :raised_hands:

Update Roe did answer my call after definitely not having to and for that alone she gained some respect back with me ! Still haven’t been paid this second but I don’t want to take anything away from them for other notaries!if they pay it’s alot quicker than most signing services!

Hi Carmen,

I’ve really appreciated your insights and contributions to this forum—they’ve been thoughtful and helpful to so many notaries, myself included. Thank you for being an active part of this community.

That said, I hope you’ll reconsider both the action and suggestion of clicking on sponsored links as a way of “fighting back.” As a sole proprietor, I rely on my notary business to supplement my retirement income. When someone clicks on my ad with no intention of using my services, it directly takes money out of my pocket and depletes my advertising budget. More broadly, it also increases the overall cost-per-click for all of us, making it harder for small, independent notaries to compete.

While I understand the frustration with certain advertising practices, this approach doesn’t hurt the “big guys” nearly as much as it negatively impacts small business owners like me—and many others here. I appreciate your consideration and hope we can continue supporting each other in ways that uplift our profession.

Best,
John

John, I promise not to click your business ads. Only the out of state sponsored ads that appear in my local search results. Deal?

Hi Carmen,

I appreciate your response and the promise not to click on my ads! However, I hope you’ll reconsider clicking on any sponsored links repeatedly, even for national companies. The reason is that each unnecessary click contributes to increasing the overall cost-per-click (CPC) for everyone bidding on similar keywords—which includes small, independent notaries like me, you, and many others here.

Larger companies have bigger ad budgets, so a higher CPC doesn’t impact them as much. But for a local notary like me (and many others), every cent counts. When CPC rises, it forces small businesses either to spend more or stop advertising altogether.

Beyond that, I also think it’s worth considering the ethical side of this. Google (and other platforms) classify repeated, intentional ad clicking as click fraud—even if the intent is just to “fight back.” And if they detect unusual patterns, it could have unintended consequences for all notary businesses advertising in that space.

I know you’re coming from a place of frustration, and I get it. I just hope we can all find ways to support each other and grow our businesses without resorting to tactics that might unintentionally hurt the very community we’re trying to protect.

Thanks for hearing me out—I truly appreciate it!

Best,
Your fellow Notary-In-Arms
