Grand Fee for One Closing

I received an offer for a $500 refi about an hour from me. I responded as available and immediately I received a phone call from a California company that utilizes SnapDocs. They asked when can I arrive as the closing was in 30 mins. I said I cannot make 30 mins but can be there around 1130 am. He said fine and to coordinate with the client. He then stated that the notary the day before botched the whole signing and will not answer his phone. He asked of my experience and I told him I’ve been in business since 2017 and have personally closed over 5k transactions. He was adamant about my getting this closed flawlessly as this is a 6 million dollar deal. I hung up and called the clients informing them of my eta. The husband said his wife has to go out of town in 20 mins. To make a long story short I met the spouse at a rest stop on the highway and then proceeded to the husband. The closing went great, docs were scanned and approved to drop as this was same day funding. Additional fee from escrow $1000 for a total of $1500! The most I’ve ever made from one closing was $475. I’m very thankful and blessed to be in this business. Thrive all and be well!

Congrats… Am sure you earned it. Nice that they recognized and rewarded you for your outside-the-box method. I’d also like to take this opportunity to point out THEY CAN PAY A LOT MORE…and should…to get the notary with experience who won’t botch the job.

Congratulations!! I also received $1000 for a one page notarization. The call came in at 615pm. Document had to be signed within the hour so I left 15 minutes after the call and required a $100 deposit which the law firm paid before I would move my car! Signing went flawless and on time. It was my most ever!

Way to go!! As someone else pointed out, YOU EARNED IT. You made it happen. You are a professional who has earned his professional fees. Congrats!

Goodness! I have only been at this for just over a year, just over 100 signings part time. My average fee is about $150 and my absolute best was $210 on a RM that was an hour away (worth the $210 to me but nothing close to what you just made!). Of course I am in central Indiana, not too many $6 million transactions, but still…

Somebody’s head or heads were on the line with that closing. Money talks, and better to pay you that than loose a huge money client. I’ve never had that offer, but certainly would bend over backwards and and do cartwheels to get on that clients good side. Did they ever tell you the backstory at the closing?Congrats!

I am located in New Jersey

Yes, the notary before me had the clients signing in places where they were not suppose to sign. He then failed to scan the whole package back and wouldn’t answer his phone or email. Hope he realizes that a bad reputation in this industry speaks volumes.

Everyone was a newbie at one point, but for a VIP client, they should hire experience. Maybe wasn’t a VIP in the beginning, but the screw up sure cost them in the end. Good for us this happens, because the big payer SS or title companies seem to only offer us the big cash when someone before us fell on the sword. Hopefully these experiences run the inadequate out of our profession and leave the quality NSA’s to lead and get a fair compensation for a white glove closing before a mess was created.
