HELP! How to make my dual tray printer work?

Hello,

Today I wasted soo much paper on trying to make my printer use the dual tray function.
I have a Brother HL-L5200DW. I purchased a 2nd tray to make it a dual tray. Legal loaded into the 2nd tray. I use a Macbook OS.
I use a Macbook OS. It was so frustrating. I ended up just printing letter and legal separately, and then sorting the documents.
I invested in a dual printer to make this easy, but it’s turning out to be quite difficult.

I tried using chatgpt to walk me through steps on how to make it work. It didn’t help… Any thoughts?

Truly, your BEST BET is to reach out to the Brother Customer Support Team. They’ll “walk” you through the Step-By-Step process & ensure everything is in working order.

Not sure how MB does it but when I set up my brother in windows, I had to assign page sizes to the trays both in the settings on the printer machine and on the computer settings for the printer. Then it finally played nice. I made myself a PDF of 1 letter pagewith the text letter and one legal page with the text legal to use as test prints until I got it right. Then I was only wasting 2 sheets each test.

wow. why didn’t I think of that?! I’m slapping myself
I’ll call them on Monday. Thank you!

Also be aware the Macs don’t play well with Adobe. Unless that has recently changed.

@shishkooleg In the interim . . . you may find this MAC OS Troubleshooting data instructional/helpful:

The following are the MAC OS versions that are supported:

It could simply be the MAC OS driver needs to be updated . . .

They’re available on the Brother webportal. Give that a try as well. :white_check_mark:
